Game magazine site up

fennec fox

ferrets ferrets ferrets ferrets FERRETS!!!
[Hopefully this post is ok per the rules.]

Those of you with long memories may recall a thread I posted a while back about my magazine collection:
http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?p=2393122#post2393122

Well, as promised in that thread, I've put up a website devoted to collecting video game and computer magazines. You can check it out right now at

http://www.magweasel.com

Currently, the site features:

- Around 1200 (totally unordered) cover scans
- Full coverage of one magazine title, serving as an example of how I'd like to have the rest of the site written
- A forum to post about mags and such

I'll be expanding the coverage of the site in the future, but for now, I'd be happy if you took a look and told me what you think of the design, what needs to be added, and so forth. If you think you'd like to contribute, please mail me at kgifford@magweasel.com

Thanks much.

Awesome!

You've been away from the game loop for far too long. Very much looking forward to everything you've got planned for the site. :)

This is absolutely great. The sample page is wonderful, and obviously the more info you can include, the better.

Great site. Needs some organization with the mags though (like being able to browse by game mag, publication year, etc)

That would probably be a bitch to do with all those pics though, but it's something I'd like to see. I like the design too

Cool site. I'd be well up for contributing as I have a mountain of mags I am wanting to throw out soon. I'll drop you a mail.

Unfortunately the site appears messed up in Safari, but I'm assuming those are just growing pains (though Video Fenky was the same for a very long time). But yeah, can't wait to see the site grow!

Well, now that I have all the mags uploaded, that's the next step. that needs to be worked on pronto. If you'd like to help out with this process (since it doesn't require any hot magazine knowledge), mail me and once I'm ready I'll send off some info.

Use Firefox you wanka.

Try reloading it now and tell me if anything's new. Otherwise I'll mess with it tomorrow at work

That is awesome man. Wikis and things like this that archive masses of information/history/etc for easily searchable consumption are just great. The sample page looks great, too.

Will there be any pages dedicated to mag personalities or will they simply be included in the individual mag rundowns? The sample page was a good read, but I thought it was a little dry, which might've been your intent. You just got bookmark'd.

Nice idea for a Web site. I also like its appearance; simplicity is greater than something that seems to be crowded together.

Wow this is totally rad. Great work.

I totally remember Ultra Game Players and Game Buyer. I thought they were solid magazines, and pretty funny (although I was young at the time, so maybe they were just stupid). I always thought it was weird that they never went anywhere.

Sure there'll be pages dedicated to mag personalities. Eventually.

Certainly this site isn't meant to be written like Maddox, but hopefully it will be inneresting to read.

OMG. The Mickey Gameboy issue was my first Gamepro ever. 2nd grade. Im going to die from nostalgia from the image alone. Amazing. Great Work!

Konami Laser Scope (hands free).

Anyone ever have this thing?

I still have that Parasite Eve issue of Game Buyer, never realised that mag went through such a limited run, it was actually a pretty decent read, and I liked being able to check out PC and console reviews in a single format.

That site looks awesome, keep up the great work on this concept, its great to be able to peruse through old memories :)

+1

I miss it soooo much, with those japanese articles translations...
Aren't there, like, a dozen game weblogs that do pretty much the same thing these days? Not that I follow them, but.

There might be, but, what about their lack of humour, or something, like choices on the topics. I had been following it since the senky days. Oh, I even send you an email asking about one of the avatars you could find in the "forum", which I have been using for some years.

Of course, you never replied, probably due to your tight schedule or my lack of English skills :)
