Gamefly price increase incoming...

I just have the normal 2 game plan. I currently have Assassin's Creed Black Samurai and MLB the show. Those two games brand new costs like $800. I'd rather pay $55 for two months it will take me to complete them.

Most games aren't worth playing.

Fewer are worth owning.

Even fewer are worth playing more than once.

Buying is for suckers.

This reminds me of the return to office narrative; all the disingenuous discourse.

So fucking tired of this mealy-mouthed BS.

Just say it straight and stop beating around the bush, why you're doing what you're doing.

It's death by a million cuts. Everything is going up except the salaries.

Yep. Gaming companies will probably have to learn that households are going to start making cuts in some areas. Games ain't exactly on the same level as putting food on the table.

I didn't know GamePass had a ring where you tell them you returned it and they ship whatever is next in your queue. Sounds pretty good.

It helps, Shipping is pretty slow, tbh, so fast return helps with that.

Idk if they still do but they used to have a warehouse in south Texas so shipping was always 1-2 days for me.

But I canceled when Blockbuster started their game service where you could just stroll in and swap for whatever you wanted.

Everything ships out of Pittsburgh now. I'm in Georgia and it takes almost a week. Can't imagine what the wait is for folks out west.

If they want to increase the price again the least they could do is drop the gamelock timeframe for non-elite subscribers from at least a month before release to at least two weeks before release. I suspect they'll be making the rewards system even shittier in the future instead.

I have been using Gamefly for so many years. I dont pay monthly. You can buy gift certificates and give them to yourself. You will save at least 25% buying 6 months or more. They rent 4k movies, which I utilize also.

Current Gift certificate prices:
12 months 235.95 = 19.66 per month
6 months 125.95 = 20.99 per month
3 months 66.95 = 22.31

I still see significant saving here and get new releases frequently. And then you can factor in periodic coupons and vouchers to keep/buy games. Many of my games are purchased from gamefly. I have not paid $60-$70 for a game in recent memory, yet I play all top releases.

I just joined Gamefly. We'll see how it goes. I was a member back in 2018 but dropped it after about a year. I rejoined at the standard tier (one game at a time). I'm not a big gamer, so I don't mind the wait.

I figured this might be a way to try out some games at low risk. I'm tired of buying games that I end up playing for an hour or two, then dropping. That seems to be happening more frequently lately. If I rent, I can reduce the regret.

I would prefer to buy, because I know that supports developers, but I have to watch out for me. I thought I'd give rentals a spin. I will try to buy games that really click with me, especially ones from AA devs.
