From the preview:

You'll pick up new bounties and weapon upgrades between jobs in Oddworld's backwater towns.

We've also been impressed so far by the variety of bad guys Stranger has to bring in to reinforce his cash flow. You won't just be fighting a series of generic boss fights; instead, each of the named bounties we've tracked down so far has had a different set of mechanics attached to it. For instance, Jo' Mamma sits at the top of a platform while protected by guards with guns on her level as well as by guards on the ground below. Your live ammo does little damage to her, but you can beat her to a pulp with your fists. The trick is getting to her, because the platform is only accessible via an electrified wire that you must cross hand over hand. This means you'll have to find a way to shut down the power before you grab the wire, of course.

:lol :lol :lol

I have never been seriously interested in an Oddsworld game before, but I saw the EGM preview from Klee's previous thread and I dug it! The action oriented slant to this game appeals to me, and all the previews sound great. I'm checking this one out in January. I'm surprised MS let this one go.

The beginning is kinda dull, the middle is awesome and uberpretty! The ending is not all impressive either graphically it's cool gameplaywise. But the middle part, whoa! NICE!

I'm somewhat excited for the game... I just wonder why there is no multiplayer aspect. How hard would it be to take some areas out of the levels and make multiplayer maps with them? With the live critter guns, this game is just begging to be played online.

I just got my January OXM in the mail yesterday and I watched the video demo of the game.

After that, I must say Oddworld Stranger is a MUST BUY!!! I was amazed by some of the stuff that was happening... critters crawling and flying around, NPC's that actually helped you based on your current objective, and the graphics were jaw dropping.

Ed Fries philosophy of funding every development project was wrong, but Shane Kim's dropping every development project is also wrong. Somewhere, MS needs to find a happy medium.
