Did he just say that the game doesn't require you to be precise about where you place your villagers?

Yeah I've been saying this for awhile, having access to mouse precision while still having stick movement is the real sleeper hit feature of Switch 2.

Anyone going from console to PC knows what I'm talking about. WASD is the worst. It's literally a decades old offspring of using arrow keys, I think it was born from playing two player games on keyboard when the other person used the arrow keys or numeric keypad. For some reason the control method has survived 4 decades for no logic reason. I already rejected it in the 80s. It's crap. Still dislike it, but mouse aiming is too good so I've somewhat accepted it.

Getting a combination of analog movement and mouse precision is going to be awesome in some games. Can't wait to play Metroid Prime 4 that way!

It also gonna work great SRPGs like Unicorn Overlord and Fire Emblem games.....in fact I think they make new Fire Emblem game on SW2 to work mouse control.

What about mouse acceleration? Does the mouse mode just emulate the joystick or is it a complete different API?

If it emulates joystick then it's trash. There's no precision with that.

Preview people has talked about a mouse precision settings menu so it seems to be it's own thing, feels great, and it works for both joycons so a left handed person can get a lefty mouse too, seems well-thought-out.
But it's standing on the side so I think it'll take some time getting used to it, won't sit as stable on the surface as a regular mouse.

I think the mouse has a lot of potential in the likes of Mario Maker 3 creation tools in docked mode, WarioWare Microgames and hopefully a return of DIY, and a Mario Paint sequel.

I'm happy for the people excited about the mouse function but what I see is a feature I won't use that makes the switch 2 even more expensive than it needs to be. Of all the things that could have been sold separately that was it. Want a joycon that doubles as a mouse? Tada!

Mouse feature literally makes Switch 2 the first console that can get up to par with PC on competitive gaming, is not only that it can, but that it is essential part of the system and devs are actually driven to use it.

Do we know which competitive online games we have day one for Switch 2? I think I can finally start playing online again, the fact I don't like kernel level anticheats and that I play a couch with a controller just makes me feel like playing only single player games these days...
