What are you talking about? Halo 2's single player combat is the yardstick by which all other FPS combat is measured. Now i can understand if you didn't care for how the game ended, cause i thought it sucked as well. But to make the usumption that Halo 2's single player isn't up to snuff because the mp is considered by some reviewers to be slightly better than the sp experience is just ridiculous.
Though the stories ending left a horribly bad taste in my mouth, it in no way takes away from the fact that the single player gameplay itself is some of the most intense, fun, and well crafted fps experiences available right now.
The only thing i can't believe is sites saying Halo 2 is basically the best FPS ever made (that is if you make the assumption HL2 is the best PC FPS ever made), especially sites like Gamespy that are very PC centric. I say this because there have always been people that have said a console is no place to play a FPS and that games like the first Halo were only considered good because of a lack of competition on consoles. And if Halo was released only as a PC game, it would be considered average at best. So to see a PC centric site like Gamespy announce that Halo 2 is not only the best console FPS this year but the best game this year period is rather unexpected especially since it was picked over HL2 which is the sacred cow of PC gaming.
At the very least Halo haters can no longer use the "different standards" argument every time they want to bash Halo.
