The bastards at the Gamestop I went to had already Z-ed out their register before they were even closed. The ban has been placed on Gamestop!

They forced me to go all the way out to my local Wal-Mart 6 miles away.

Their district manager called me and apologized. Big whoop! Lata!

Won't be "stoppin" at Gamestop anymore!

Every retail establishment ive worked for has called it CLOSING THE REGISTER!

Ive worked cash office for a few of them and we dont have stupid names for making a deposit. Jesus.

Eh, I can sympathize. That shit is annoying sometimes, especially since it only takes a minute to grab an item and get the hell out of there. If they say they're open until 9pm, then fucking stay open until 9pm. It's not "clerk is locking up and leaving the store by 9pm." Otherwise, change the store hours to read 10am - 8:45pm.

The Subway in Bellevue near the Sears is open until 1AM, but they usually close up around midnight. THAT pisses me off. 10 minutes? Come on. That's nothing.

Sadly I have very little faith in idiot cosumers like you to get what you want before you start wasting my time with your stupid.

additionally, for every customer like you that would storm out or never come back, another takes your place. You arent that important.
 
At my Staples we call it Dinner-For-One'ing the Register. Some guy needed a printer cartridge at like 9:58 last night, and I was like, "Sorry bitch, we already DFO'ed it!"

It wasn't closing time, it was before. And I knew what I wanted. Glad I don't have dillholes with that attitude at my local EB. :D

I'm not arguing with you. I got screwed by EB after driving 20 miles to get a slim PS2 (none of my local stores had any in stock). I even called the dipshit and told him I was coming to grab one. I arrive at 8:52, and everything is locked up and shutdown. Obviously, I wasn't too happy.

I'd prefer if the stores would stay open until the last minute, then shuffle everyone out and lock the doors almost on the hour.

If I tell someone on the phone ill be open for him I warn him when we close and id be willing to stay open an extra five minutes, but anything more is ridiculous. Ill even place a copy on hold.

Its called time management, and while im responsible for making your time in any store I work in enjoyable, im not responsible for you being a slow motherfuck in getting to the store.

I didn't get kicked out. I walked in, before the store was closed, asked for a particular game, was told the register was Z-ed out, and then left because they weren't going to help me. What's too hard to understand about that, I have no idea. I don't go into game stores not knowing what I want.

My story is succinct enough to get the point. Went into store before closing, wanted to purchase a game, was told register was closed (that was for you), and left.
 
Why the heck are there store hours if stores won't honor them?

I understand a clerk denying service if what needs to be done will take longer than the time they have left until closing. Otherwise, there's simply no excuse. I expect service if I get to a store 10 minutes before closing time and what I intend to do/purchase takes 5.

When I worked in retail, if someone walked in 1 min before closing, we helped them until they left. Guess the customer doesn't mean shit anymore these days. What matters more is the lazy asses working there get out the door at 9 pronto, no exceptions. That's gonna backfire too. :D
 
He should have had the register open right up until closing. So i'll side with the thread starter. But he also has the right to kick people out after closing time.

No one is arguing with kicking people out who aren't currently buying anything at closing.

The point is, it takes about 5-10 mins to close out a register. So obviously they started well before it was closing time.

No fucking way I tell you. I worked in a boutique with clothes in Europe and the same shit happens here. We were oficially "opened" to 21 but in reality only to 20:45. When there was 20:45 on the clock the bars were being lowered, but not totally closed, and that was a SIGN for people who were in the mall that nobody enters our shop today anymore, we're only letting people out. There were quite a few situations when an angry business man needed a suit for his tonight's meeting, well, he couldn't get it in our boutique.

I mean WTF? We should let people IN and OUT till 21, right?

Eh, fuck it, it was KappAhl's boutique.
 
Gamecrazy has been a great brick gaming store.

Also, there's about at least an hour of closing proceedures and what not after the customer leaves, stores dont just get to leave at closing.

Such a one sided argument.
