*Sega Sammy = 6 months.

I gotta say that I'm surprised that Square Enix has such low profit margin apparently. But I am even more surprised at Sega. The shareholders won't be pleased.

Huh? How's Sega so low like that?
Do they have any mass appeal games? As most things in business 80% of profits are made by 20% of your products, the rest is just vanity projects of various execs.

Yakuza games are not cheap to make and the rate Nagoshi has been making them it makes for a giant hole in Sega budget each year.

Also regarding gross profit / operating profit - as with everything the idea is to sacrifice short-term profits for the long-term. Is SIE profit actually increasing steadily or do they burn all that money each time they launch a new console?

I'm conflicted whether congratulations are in order or not. Sega's shareholders gotta be pissed.
B-but I made the shareholders happy! As a proud owner of a multitude of SIE/Nintendo hardware I followed these threads like a hawk and made my Sony-chan and Nintendo-chan thousands of dollars over the years and my contribution is a number in those figuers! I could've bought my wife that gold bracelt she's been bugging me about for the last couple of months but i told her "honey Sony and Nintendo need my money to improve their fiscal standings and balance sheets it can wait" and so she felt deep shame for her words and deeds!

Sony's and Nintendo's shareholders are proud of you, son.

This result is for the whole group and combined results from other segments like resort / pachinko etc that have been hit very hard by covid. The gaming segment was profitable but not enough to cover other losses.

Konami..... that pachinko business is doing impressive numbers it seems.
They also have that Momotaro game that keeps selling like mad on Japan.

What worries me is Sega. They released cool games like Yakuza 7 and the Yakuza Remaster Collection and they still are at a loss? Man...

Because upper management like Nagoshi was stupid enough to release game like Sakura Wars only on PS4 and completely flopped worldwide.

Sakura Wars mobile game is also having financial mismanagement.

3 billion of yen budget and 74 million revenue lol.

Increasing quite significantly YOY.

In all previous launch years (PS1,2,3,4), they suffered a loss -- even if previous years were profitable. This year, Sony launched PS5 and still recorded the highest-ever operating profit in a fiscal year.
