Woo, its been so long since the last Goemon game! My copy should be here tomorrow :D Is anyone else gonna be grabbing it? I was going to wait for domestic but considering it's a no show on e3 and konami's efforts in the past related to Goemon.....

Is it worth importing if I have no knowledge of the Japanese language? I guess I'll just wait a little while and see if someone brings it over if it's not. The game looks interesting and I was planning to import it but I don't know how text sensitive it is.

I was interested in it until those Famitsu scores. Then again Famitsu scores are totaly random and don't mean the game is actually bad. But then Famitsu loves the heck out of the DS and over-rates every DS game so maybe those low scores really do mean something...

Too many summer games coming out so I'm on a tight budget, need a non-Nintendo fans impressions of the game before I pick it up.

I dub this thread The Official Goemon Importers Discussion

My friend has got it preordered like a month ago, so I will be able to see and play it from him in about 2 weeks time.

I think the only reason why the game faired not so well in Famitsu is because of the complicated control (having to use both the touch screen and the D-pad + buttons at the same time). The really praised the graphical style of the game, which is a good thing.

Famitsu hasn't traditionally really scored Goemon games high. The only one to receive 30 or more was the first one for the N64

I wish I could read Japanese. so no. :(

how many importers do so despite the language barrier

I used to, but I picked up on the language over time.

(Sakura Taisen 3 was my first import... and yeah that wasn't exactly a doozy)

I got my copy last Friday :D
and I almost finish the game
don't believe Famitsu's score
the game is not so bad

+ graphic and music are very cool
+ the Robot combat part is good
+ lots of humors (well, you need to know Japanese Language of course)
+ have very similiar experience and feeling of the old Goemon 1 and 2 in SNES
- due to the the style of the graphic, you feel it is a little blurred and not shape enough
sometimes you need to watch the uppper map to find where the exits are
- the key pad design of NDS is not good, your finger will feel tired when play the game in long time
- the game is a little bit short, and not enough side quests and extras
- the control is the main problem.
the developer wants you to fully use the touch screen function and this really annoys the player.
for example,
while you usually use the key pad and ABXYLR buttons to play the game
sometimes you have to touch the screen to expose some secrets in the villages, or touch the enemies to expose their weakness points in the battle zones
These result to slower the tempo and smoothness

Sounds like a nice game that's not enjoyable because the touch screen stuff annoys the player and the controls are not good. Hmmm, maybe this is the kind of game that will drop to <$20 at Play-asia in a few months.

Got my copy! Not bad so far, and yes the touchscreen requirement is a bit of a nuisance. Besides that, pure nostgalia with the music and characters :D No opening song sadly, but the intro was voiced with the original cast. More as I play! That and I also got MMBN5: Team Protoman to juggle.
