GBA SP Is the Ultimate Handheld. All Bow Down.

Nobody plays GB/C games anymore. If, on the off chance, I want to fire up black & white Battleship or Mario Land 2 or something, there's like seven old Game Boys and my GB Player somewhere in the room.

FFTA is a fun little battler, I put 80 hours in raising my army of ninjas and assassins.

I'd add to the fanboy'z list:

Metroid: Zero Mission
Pokemon R/S
Pokemon FR/LG
Fire Emblem
Wario Ware
Super Mario Bros. 3
And...*braces for ridicule*
Golden Sun 1&2

Ultimate handheld indeed. This thread reminds me of how many GBA titles I still want to pick up.

But aren't they all pretty much either SNES ports, or updates of SNES games? I can understand how that makes it the best handheld (SNES was great), but its hardly a glowing testimonial to new development is it?

Perhaps you've been absent during the past 15 years of gaming. But ports and updates to classic franchises is all gaming is anymore.

But it's true. GBA SP > everything.

EDIT: Has anyone mentioned Boktai yet? Because they should've. Game rocks.

hmm how can GBASP > everything when GBA games look MUCH better on the DS? does not compute...

though not being able to play GB(C) games sucks... so, GBASP looks like ass, and DS can't play non-Advance games....

seems like a tie to me.

DS still has washed out colors. Haven't played any GBA games on it yet, but the DS games I saw running through a capture station looked about a million times more vibrant and colorful on the computer screen than on the DS.

Oh yeah, the SP is more portable too.

boktai on the SP also sucks... it's real great that the sun sensor is facing angled down and towards your body....

sorry, I am not an SP hater... but boktai.. arrgghh.. I've tried to love that game, and really the the game engine is one of the most solid action adventure games I've played and the sensor is implemented extremely well and enhances the game play, EXCEPT FOR ACTUALLY GETTING SUNLIGHT TO THE DAMN THING@!@!!!!!

the only way the game has ever been playable (I always run out of energy at night) is on a GBA (not SP) for a bit of time in the day. if anyone disagrees with this, TELL ME HOW TO PLAY THE DAMN GAME ON THE SP!!!! :(

Play tactfully. I played the entire game indoors--except for the Pile Drivers, of course--so I could take screenshots while writing the guide. It's more fun played like that, too. Sorta Metal Gear Solid like.

(Luna lens + Beatmania frame is the key.)

Get a blacklight.

That'll work, especially if you'd rather stay in and play.

That said, I HAVE gotten the game to work on my SP outside. I used to play the original if I got to campus a bit early, before classes.

I agree. If handheld, then a damn GBA SP. I have a question: I haven't played Golden Sun, and I want to try Golden Sun 2. Will I be able to understand the story? Or should I start with the inferior GS?

I haven’t played GS2 but I have finished GS1, from what I can gather yes you should play GS first.

The game is ok, a very solid RPG adventure but a bit over rated!

Golden Sun 2 > Golden Sun, but playing GS isnt a pure requirement honestly. A nice thing is carrying over characters from a completed game save into GS2, but other than that.

honestly, when it comes down to which to buy, if you don't already have a bunch of gameboy games (GB(C)) and don't plan on playing much, if any, multiplayer GBA games, then get the DS. It will play all of those GBA games, will look better than the SP's front light, and you get to play the newest and best DS games as they come out. oh, and if you don't do connectivity with the GCN (which if you don't have a GBA already you probably never will use that feature)

though if you haven't pre-ordered at this point it really won't matter much until after the end of the year.

as for boktai.. I just blasted everything. I don't have either of those frames yet. I will get those frames and give it another try.. I really did enjoy the game.. it would just always come down to playing it for 20 minutes at night and.. ooops.. well, I'm done for the night.

Tell that to Tetris, boyo.
