Gearing Up for RE4 - THE TRUE PATH

Anyway, RE4 is coming out, and all that RE shits fuzzy these days, so I splurged a little and spent 30 dollarz lolz on the 3 RE games I liked a lot.

I skipped RE3 cause I dunno, I dont care about jill and her stalker.

I did pick up RE Directors Cut which is better than RE for Gamecube because all that wonderful camp is still there. All those wonderful rough edges that made me laugh and cry and piss my pants.

RE2 was picked up cause hey, fuckin Leons in 4 so I need to play 2 again. PREREQ! Plus while not as terrifying or survivalish, its a game that is technically far more solid than the original.

RE:CV was picked up for PS2 cause fuck if I can find a dreamcast version anymore and OMG this game went back to what RE was all about, running the fuck around with no ammo from zombies who dont fuckin need ammo. Awesome.

RE4 isnt that far away and im actually sorta anticipating it. All the extras look awesome and the gameplay looks sweet. Best of all, dont have to buy a gamecube to play it!

resident evil 4 + devil may cry 3 = wow let me suck your dick capcom

new ghouls n ghosts for psp wow wow

capcom rox

I tried to play Code Veronica on my DC a few weeks ago...and hell I just couldn't. The controls make the game unplayable. And I haven't even played RE4. :P

Arent RE4 controls a departure from the archaic weird ass stiff RE1-CV controls?

Nope, it controls exactly the same. The only thing that has changed is the camera perspective which make the controls a lot easier to use.

I'm definitely going to have to get the PS2 version when the price comes down a bit. Hate the new gun, but after seeing some of the new Ada stuff..

I'm really enjoying RE4 right now, eventhough I have to play it in short spans because of time constrains. Easily one of my favorite games ever. I'll definitely be getting the PS2 version for all the extra content.

but but but the gamecube version is the directors original vision and i don't know how youll be able to afford the ps2 version anyway with the HURTIN the ds is gonna put on YOUR WALLET i mean did you see that one game it has an anime lawyer who points at things its so quirky and japanese it makes my prostate tingle

Well it's hard not to discount the free aim as well. Point that little laser at some legs and go for suplex fun.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this version of the game, as I've long since completed it many times. Tell us how it works out for you. I love to relive the memories of classics.

Wanted to beat it on PS2 but at the end I played the GC version. It's an amazing game that proves that when Capcom brings a game to the arcade genre then the game turns GOLD. They are the kings of arcadish based games.

However my GOTY is DMC3.

I wish Leon didn't control like a tank, he feels so retarded when playing mercenaries. Didn't stop me from playing all night though.

REmake is way better than the original RE1, but other than that you have chosen wisely. I hope RE2 gets a remake someday, as it was an excellent game and the pinnacle of classic Resident Evil, with only the finest tank controls, forced camera angles and scripted scares. Never finished Code Veronica, but it was fun and there were actual attempts to improve the gameplay...will have to go back to it someday.

RE3 and RE0, however, are pretty much worthless.

Hahahahahahah. Oh man.

I wish RE4 - "The True Path" had real time weapon switching.... *sigh*

Actually, you don't.

Why? Because its going to look stupid having his guns pop in and out of existence. Furthermore, if they don't do that, they have to have animations for switching between weapons - and as a result - that Las Plagas bastard who is 2 inches from your face is going to own your ass.

So suddenly, everything has to be realistic in RE4? Then let's talk about the GC version...where's Leon hiding the rocket launcher when I'm blasting villagers with the shotgun? I only see it in his inventory, wtf's going on with that!?

they dont need to make animations for gun switching. it'll look awkward to see a new weapon suddenly appear, but does it really matter?

while gun switching would be great, it'll actually probably make the game a little harder since you lose about .05 seconds of reaction time :P

at least i'd be able to use the grenades since im too lazy to switch to the menu just to use one

People who complain about Res Evils 'tank' controls are shit at games and never completed Alone In The Dark, Quake, or Tomb Raider with a PC keyboard.

So you would rather see guns pop in and out of existence?

That would look extremely lame.

Haha, was playing RE1 again, just got the shotgun and almost became a Jill Sandwich. Those fuckin dogs still startled me. Its worse when the spiders are in that hallway. Or those fuckin killer frog things.

guns pop in and out of existence whenever leon draws his knife. switching between guns would be no worse. they really should've let you equip two guns in the definitive version.

Capcom should just put the previous games in a mega man anniversary style collection. That way, I could buy resident evil 2 for the bajillionth time. Does this series have any sort of anniversary coming up? Game franchises should get collections for their birthdays.

which is a bit like giving your wife a turd with a bow tied around it for your tenth anniversary. but battered wives that we are, we keep taking capcom's crap. i won't buy re ds, mind -- re1 is hardly worth remaking -- but i will buy rockman rockman and irregular hunter x. :(

Yeah two 3 inch screens aren't a very festive birthday.
That's a really crappy birthday.
My tenth birthday was better.

I agree. If they didn't feel the need for an animation when Leon unsheathes his knife, then if they were to include instant weapon switching they wouldn't really need to include animations for the weapon switch. It should just be instant, whether you're switching to a firearm or a gernade. Then it really would be the definitive version.

Except that people with a Gamecube have played it 9 months ago and best of all, we can ruin the game for you by telling you that Ashley dies near the end!

I didn't spoil anything don't worry, if you haven't played the game.
