Went down to a Comic & Toy Convention today that was held at the Mayfield Trade Center in Edmonton. First thing that came to my realization is that I don't make near enough cash to be going to these things... I could have gone in there with a bank account loaded to the brim and still walked out broke.
I picked up an 18" Ash (Army of Darkness) Figure, complete with Replacable Chainsaw/Mech hand from McFarlane Toys. It has motion detection sounds too, so if I've got it turned on and I'm bumbling around the room, I'm occasionally greeted with "well HELLOOOOOOOOOO Mr. Fancy Pants".
I also picked up a 9" Action Set with Neo doing his handstand/m16 ownage in the original Matrix Pillar scene, also from McFarlane toys.
last but not least I nabbed a Nintendo shirt (picture below) that was just too awesome to pass up.
Oh, and on the way in I bumped into a dude in full Stormtrooper getup, complete with the voice changing n' all that. I had to ask how much he paid for the suit, and for the completely decked out version he had (no idea what he meant by "decked out") he paid 1800$. Christ it's expensive to be a nerd.
Anyway, first time at a Comic/Toy/Geek fair, but it was damn awesome. When I'm rich and have infinite funds I'll go back again.
Here's the pics of the swag
