Gege Akutami returns to Jujutsu Kaisen with manga sequel/spinoff series 'MOJURO'

He is the writer, not the artist.

This is huge news. I felt JJK ended so abruptly it seemed Gege just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. Nice to see him return.

I hope the new artist will be on par with Gege because his art was insane.

Also: JJK season 3 trailer dropped a few days ago, Culling Game hype, can't wait to see Maki annihilate the Zenin clan:

Jujutsu Kaisen is so overrated lmao

I fucking dislike some fights:

1. Hey, my superpower is pachinko machines. How high must the author have been to come up with that or
2. A fight which isn't even a fight, but unfunny comedy battle.

Gege is the worst author ever. The plot of JJK is unremarkable and nonsensical. Shibuya and Gojo's past were the only good arcs.

Culling Game is probably the low point for the entire manga because of how ridiculous and needlessly complex it is. Some chapters are nothing but exposition dump having characters explaining the rules of the game for 15 pages. And the bit where Geto talks to the White House and they have US soldiers entering to abduct people is just immediately dropped and never mentioned again. Just weird.

Most of the fights are good. I like Hakari's jackpot technique. Plus Maki, Kashimo, Higuruma, lots of cool characters.

But the comedy "battle" was terrible, yeah. And other stuff like the "manga artist", that was just nonsense. But that's just Gege's style.

I am not normally into anime, but my son (13) was really excited about this one after talking to friends. We watched it and I was hooked. I can't wait for more if they can maintain the same quality.

I think JJK benefited from the fluid motion of anime the most. I hope future seasons would do a better job of explaining whats going on in terms of the complex schemes and all.
Honestly reading week by week basis, I had already forgotten what had happened previous week - and wasn't going to go back to read the whole thing again. I may just binge the series when all's out.

Hard to get excited about this after how underwhelming the second half of the manga ended up being.

Dropped juju after a while, good animations but powers were all over the place and sometimes even hard to understand.

Looking forward to reading this on Sunday, post-Shibuya JJK is kinda trash with events happening so quickly and Akutami speed running the series and dropping so many plot points.

When JJK kids made out you were illiterate for not knowing who Usami was, then it turns out he was just some random character never introduced into the story. lmao.

As long as this arc isn't as bad with it's pacing as Hunter X Hunter's Chimera Ant arc, I think I'll be fine with the drop in writing quality.

For context in case anyone doesn't know, during the Chimera Ant arc, the narrator has the most dialogue over all of the characters featured because the arc moves in a sort of slow-motion nature as the narrator explains each and every subtle movement and step that is happening on screen.

Apparently, even though other shows have dealt perfectly okay with showing fast motion just fine and it coming across clear visually, constant narration was necessary to do in HxH.

Read the first volume of the manga and it was painfully generic. Like Bleach but with subtle differences. Same story, high school kid with supernatural powers joins some 'society' to fight against X enemy. Why people like samey stories is beyond me.
We got bleach, this, blue exorcist, Rise of the yokai clan, black clover, like its all the same shit.

It is.

Every single character other than Satoru Gojo could die and nothing of value would be lost.

but we are in the paint by numbers braindead action shonen era

cool fights/great animation w/ generic/forgettable characters while the plot is just background noise

and thats considered top tier these days its beyond boring

Some of the later parts of JJK definitely have that Chimera Ant Arc pacing.
Several late fights are basically character explaining convoluted powers to each other, and then explaining convoluted reasons as to how they overcame or aren't affected by these powers.
