For a Film Studies major, Dan has some pretty glaring holes in his movie resume. Animal House, Demolition Man. I wonder if he's seen This is Spinal Tap.

I mean he readily admits that his degree is mostly a sham. He had an entire semester where he didn't have to go to any classes and got straight A's!

Only Dan can get away with something as ludicrous as that.

To be fair i have seen people to the same thing Dan did when i was in College for a few classes

It's true. I've got footage taken from a GoPro I obtained using black market CBSi connections.

Quake Live is pretty darn fun, I can't wait to see if that new Unreal Tournament game is good. I want it to be good so darn bad.

Yeah, I'm sceptical for now, but I hope it's good. Have they said anything about vehicles and such? I hope they go back to smaller maps without all that extra stuff, I like my UT as pure as it can get.

Well you didn't have to play the big stuff. Personally I am only somewhat looking ward to UT because I never liked the dodging and wall jumps in UT. I bet they will keep those though.

It's a shame that Nexuiz / Xonotic seems mostly dead nowadays (at least the last two times I redownloaded it the servers were ghost towns). At its peak that game was basically a greatest hits of Quake and UT maps. Longest Yard runs into Facing Worlds runs into Levelord Bedroom. So good. Quake Live still scratches the itch really well though.

The bright side about The Order coming out is that people will now finally shut the fuck up about DriveClub.

Were people on GAF as nuts about the critical reception of the PS3's middling early games like Heavenly Sword (oh wait this reviewed pretty decently) and LAIR?

Link's Awakening is the best. It's wonderfully dense and complex, and it has a cool story about a giant fish and shit. It's the weird Zelda that's actually good because, hey, it has more than four dungeons.

Conversely, the Zelda games heralded by Giant Bomb, Wind Waker and ALBW, are baby games. No, not because of the cartoon graphics, but because everything in both games is ridiculously easy. At least Wind Waker is charming and has awesome Ganondorf. ALBW is just New! Legend of Zelda in all but name. It even has the gross-looking plastic graphics. At least there aren't any "bah bahs" in the music.

We need a real Zelda fan, like Ace Ebb, to join the GB staff and set them straight.

So I remember playing Windwaker when it first came out and I know I loved it back then.

Because of that, Windwaker HD is the first thing I bought with my WiiU when I bought the console a couple of months ago.

After replaying the game I actually came out of it really disappointed with it.

First of all I love the graphics and the art style (especially for the HD version, it's gorgeous). I also like the actual gameplay mechanics. It's a very competent 3d Zelda game, no complaints there.

Where I have an issue is with the actual's game structure and dungeons. There's a very small number of dungeons compared to LTTP or OOT and of the dungeons we do get half of them are fucking escort quests... I was so incredibly bored by the end... Doesn't help that they also re-use some of the dungeons.

That's... how you have to play the game. If you aren't right on the monster's ass keeping it from leveling up, you're blowing it. The rest of my team wasn't keeping up.
If it helps any, that quick look was all I needed to answer my previous post of asking for proof that Brad just plays poorly while on camera. You were doing fine in the quicklook.

I would agree that both WW and ALBW are on the easy side of Zelda games, but I absolutely love both games. ALBW epecially. It just feels fantastic to play, and as much as I know some people dislike it, I really liked the changes they did to items etc. in that game. It also has good pacing, which is something I've missed in Zelda games.

ALBW is really the first Zelda game I've loved since WW (haven't played any of the DS Zeldas). Twilight Princess has a boring and pretty ugly look, and just feels like it's 200 hours long...which probably isn't that far off. Cut about 30 % of that game and you have decent pacing. SS takes way too long to get going, and it didn't really get really good for me before the end. The last dungeon is some of the best dungeon design in the history of the series to me, but too little too late.

I'm sceptical about Zelda U, because I have no real idea what it's going to be yet (what's Nintendo's idea of a open world like that?). That short gameplay demo was highly underwhelming. But I hope it's good, Zelda is probably still a top 3 franchise for me because of how much I love every mainline Zelda game up until the Wii era.

Should be, yup. If you don't know a rule don't bring everything to a halt and look it up, just make up a quick solution (roll __ dice for me and use ___ score) and then make a note to look it up before next time.
I don't play D&D, but in other board games, this is my weakness. I keep wasting time looking up rules instead of winging it and looking it up later (which usually happens anyways, but after 5-10 searching and failing to find anything first)

That Evolve QL was an absolute joy of a watch.

They should do more multiplayer content between the two offices.

Mary totally seems like a marketing shill, though. But since she isn't, that just means she's really good at coaching and explaining things, which is pretty cool. There were points where the QL could totally fail if she didn't point them in the right direction.

My rule of thumb is to just make a check based on whatever trait I think fits it best, and then I jot down a note to read about it later.

For example (just a random scenario I could see happening) if someone wants to swing Tarzan-style from a rope and then drop onto an enemy, i'd just solve it with a dex check and a saving throw. The person doing the swinging i'd have do a dexterity check for, say, 15. I'd then do a saving throw on the enemy to see if they manage to avoid it. If the person attacking also manages to roll better than the enemy's AC they can do damage, otherwise they'll just knock the enemy down. This would keep the game moving and let the players still do what they want (it's not fun to feel like you can't do something in the game due to a rule) and I can just look up the real mechanics of something like swinging later.

The game is all about imagination and creativity. The rules are there to empower and give structure to that, not get in the way.

Yeah, she was great at explaining the mechanics.

The whole thing felt like one of those lame E3 showcases with the painfully scripted and "spontaneous" multiplayer game demos.

Except it wasn't lame, it was awesome.

I remember there being a contingent for Lair but I cant remember if they were actually vocal or kept to themselves

I got back into watching wrestling after a hiatus that dates to the Attitude Era (thanks Powerbombcast), and the NXT show last night was bonkers. The final match was legit.

WHAT IS THE
YEAR BEAST BRAWL?

The Year Beast Brawl is like a normal match of All-Pick Dota, except that each team now has a powerful helper: their very own Year Beast. Every 5 minutes during the battle the Year Beasts will appear, charging down the lanes toward the opposing team. Use your Ability Points to manipulate and modify your Year Beast, helping it destroy the enemy's ancient. Ability Points are gained in numerous ways throughout the New Bloom Festival.

COMMANDING YOUR
YEAR BEAST

Ability Points can also be used to issue commands to your Year Beast, such as Teleporting it to defend or push a lane, enchanting it with Double Damage, or causing it to use a powerful spell such as Thunder God's Wrath. Once commanded, the beast will act on its own, so there is no need to manage its every move.

Remember to use your Ability Points—they are replenished after each Brawl.

ABILITY POINTS

You can acquire Ability Points for your Pool in a number of ways:

2400 Points

Included with each purchase of Crystal Maiden's Frost Avalanche Arcana.
1000 / 2400 Points package

Can be purchased directly on the Dota store.
100 Points

Given to all players who complete a Year Beast Brawl, win or lose.
100 Points

Earned if you own the Frost Avalanche Arcana and win a normal Dota match.
25 Points

Earned for each teammate who owns the Frost Avalanche Arcana whenever you win a normal Dota match.
25 Points

Given for each time you use Item Recycling to recycle 10 items.

In addition to your permanent Ability Point Pool, you will also have access to extra points from the Daily Bonus.

1000 Ability Points

$3.99 USD

2400 Ability Points

$7.99 USD

Arcana Bundle

$34.99 $27.99 USD

NXT is 100% the show anyone interested in getting into or returning to wrestling should watch.

Its real good stuff.

If u can watch a NXT special event and not like it then wrestling clearly isn't for you because they are on fire right now.

Why can't we have both?

I liked the 1on1 arenas and the sprawling maps with crazy fun vehicles.
