Giant Bomb - Extra Life 2015 | Give Money to Children's Hospitals

Why is twitch so popular? The player is garbage. Can't even pause and resume I feel like I can't step away from the screen.

Its the established standard.

Youtube steaming kills it in terms of features and usability but given youtubes content id bollocks i am not shocked it hasnt taken off.

Don't forget the sub-system. Streamers and companies use it and it stops them from changing to a different service.

Doesn't help with donations though, randoms aren't going to donate.
Well, maybe people that are specifically looking for extra life streams, since it's its own category.

Well, maybe people that are specifically looking for extra life streams.

I would think that everyone doing that already has a stream they follow and donate to. All the donation comments are from GB fans. Maybe some randoms donate, but I would be surprised if not the vast majority of the people who just come across a stream like this are passive viewers. But who knows.

between mary/gbeast/lang this is the third time I've watched at least some of an until dawn playthrough. there are probably at least three or four better things to be doing with my life.

I really hope Dan can get involved in a full 24 hour Extra Life stream next year, maybe join in with Drew and Alexis. It was a shame that he was mostly locked away in a shorter stream, he seems like the type of guy that would totally commit to doing some real stupid stuff in service of late night donation goals a la Vinny's shocked balls.

I wish the SF stream would have done a bit to get donations, like some dumb stretch goals and stuff, that was the one that had the most potential to bring in money for the kids, it just felt like a long UPF.

Dave's Until Dawn playthrough is fucking PRO. This is the best one I've seen, esp for a first-timer!

Austin was engaged with the audience most of the time though. Can't say the same for the GBSF office peeps.

But we're talking about getting donations here. Reading chat won't do that. It made for a good stream no doubt. Engaging with the audience in a smart way is key to be able to do a good solo stream, but it's not what will get people to donate. I also doubt that engaging with the audience by reading chat would've done much to the donation total of the GB SF streams, the only thing that helps there is pushing with incentives and stuff like that, which Lang is good at. My point is that Austin didn't do much either to get donations, but I very much enjoyed his stream.

As for GB SF, Jeff might be against the "like, subscribe" mindset to a fault in that he's reluctant to even push people with incentives etc. when it's a good cause. SF has never been good at doing that kind of stuff.

Anyways, going to bed. Work in 6 hours!

Operation "pay for Wrestlemania Travel Package" appears to be a go!

I always thought that they could do it in sort of like a telethon. Have 2-3 constant hosts for the whole 24 hours while the rest of the SF giantbomb crew just pop in during different times. Have it be like a guest appearance by the different crew members.

Can't believe I missed Vinny playing Paint the Town Red. Hopefully the archive goes up before too long. Sounds like it went ok though. It's stressful watching people you respect playing your game when it's in Early Access and still has a long way to go.
