No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Yeah, that art is fugly.

Why do all films originating from Asia end up with shitty covers for their Region 1 releases?

DECEMBER!!!! COME QUICKLY!!

BTW, I just found out that the movie is still being played in a theater in Alahambra (half an hour from me). Seeing it again tomorrow with a friend that only saw the haWks version. I doubt the theater is gonna touch designated seating experience I had in Arclight, but it's worth the drive to see it on giant screen again, and without the crack whore translated subtitles of the haWks fansub.

And as for no dubs, even the dub for the first one (which was as good as it ever got on anime anything) is grating on me. Until they get some A talent for anime dubs, it's subs all the way.

Appleseed just had its US premiere, the DVD I think is early next year

And btw the original GITS is coming out in a new SE DVD in December. Since Manga is under new management well see if it affects theire habit screwing up theire DVDS

R2 cover art for comparison:

Are you sure Appleseed's not going to be shown in theaters? That's kind of lame considering the R1 DVD isn't scheduled until 2005.

Holy fuck that is AWFUL. I seriously wont buy it if the US cover looks like that. Appleseed premiered in that it's in the Boston Fantastic Film Festival. Also will be in the Waterloo Animation Festival in a week or so... who knows if/when it'll get an actual theatrical distribution.

Yeah no kidding...maybe I will buy the R2 even if its without subs....I already plan on getting the gunbuster remastered set and thats without subs...(to be fair I dont ill ever see Gunbuster on R1 DVD in my lifetime...anyways, Ive watched it a great deal before so it doesnt really matter)

That's what I thought. After the haWks sub fiasco, I'm willing to wait for the official one that has the same sub as what I saw at the theater.

Haven't watched it myself, so I don't know the sub quality. It might be good, it might be "CAR AM DRIVING TAKUMI SUPER GET" kinda stuff.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to gank that sum-ma-bitch, take it home and watch it taking your sweet time analysing the sub quality over a night in front of your TV, and then report back. And take pics.

Better yet, I'll toss it on the tv at work so I don't have to sit all the way through it, and I can report back from work.

Deal with people all day long who want to fistfight you over which anime character is better, and you'll not be big on anime at home either.

*Gasp* The Dark Territory........

Seriously though, what zip code is the store in? I can't search by county on yahoo maps.

It's a secret until the boss gets the store 100% legal imo

That's some awful cover art. And while I'm not a big fan of dubs, I'm disappointed that there isn't one on the disc. I've gotten used to the GitS 1 and SaC dubs. I think they're pretty well done.

The Japanese GitS Innocence "Collector's Box" 5 disc set looks pretty amazing:

(And it's a steal at $463 freaking dollars!)

Discs 3-5 contain making-of featurette (complete version/4 hours approx). Bonus features include "Gynoids figure" (supervised by Takayuki Taketani), "Layout Collection" (supervised by Mamoru Oshii), and "Innocence Official Artbook" (supervised by Yohei Taneda Production I.G Art Team).

Too bad they couldn't have given us at least a 3 disc set with the best of the extras culled from the "Collector's Box"...

Holy fucking shit. Chalk that one up amongst the many many killer japanese DVDs that are ridiculously overpriced.
