Just as the topic said, given all the stars aligned, what would you do or be if you could be anything. For me I'd want to be a comic book artist or animation director. Or maybe both. I think I have the ability as is and try to improve all the time but it's difficult. If everything came easy I'd have the money and be accepted to go to Calarts freshmen year of college next year for animation courses. But as is I don't know if I will have it. I'm gonna try to see what student loans and scholarships I could get and see if I can't get a consistent job all through college to put towards it. But if all went as I'd want, that would be the job.

In younger years I'd have said basketball player or wrestler or something but those aren't too glamorous looking at them now :lol Maybe if I could be like MJ or wrestling was like the early to mid 90's run but not now. I think acting would be cool too but I've never spoken a line in my life in front of a crowd. I respect a lot of those great actors though and find myself interested in a lot of their careers. But yeah, like I said, the ideal job would be what I'm trying to be still but a lot of times it's so damn frustrating

I'd like to be an illustrator. I don't like where the game industry is headed, so I've completely lost interest there, but I'd still love to illustrate/paint for a living.

I think the question is kind of unclear. Does it mean I could get whatever job I want, but not gain any of the necessary skills to be successful? Or would I magically become "one of the best"?

If I gain some sort of amazing new skill, I guess I would want to be a rock star or professional poker player. If I just had to pick some job, but only work with existing skills and knowledge, then I don't really know. Which is kinda sad...

Scriptwriter, assuming I had a working relationship with the directors who pick up the scripts. Too many scriptwriters sell their scripts to complete amateurs only to have their material botched on screen. It would be a great job, because I could be creative and experience the thrill of making a movie and seeing it come alive on the big screen, but I wouldn't have to worry about being bothered, stalked and photographed constantly.

Yer nuts.

As for me, condom tester.

seriously, videogame testing is an absolute chore. A videogame reviewer is more appealing to me but still with that you have to beat the shitty games which are far more frequent. And the pace you do it in is already dictated so it's not always going to be too enjoyable.

My dream job is really the one I'm training for and realistically aiming to obtain.

I guess if it had to be something that I definitely couldn't do now, it'd either be an astronaut or animation director. The former would be sweet, simply being up in space and all that, and I think it's important stuff. The latter would be fun as hell, and I am deeply engaged by the animation field but have little talent myself when it comes to drawing, painting, etc, and that tends to be a prerequisite for being given the chance to direct anything in that realm.

It'd be the same as the main character in Fight Club. Basically, blackmailing your boss into giving you a paycheck for not showing up to work. But really, and astronaut.

To be a film director. If not...well...

How about working in the Beverly Hills Whole Foods produce department!? My amazing carrot displays would surely attract the attention of...let's say...Jessica Alba.

I could SO be that befuddled produce clerk in the background.

"Miss Alba! How would you like to produce an independent film about the problems inherent in the American educational system?"

I'd like to be a hitman, but an annoying celebrity hitman. Basically, if there's somebody famous you don't like and you have the money to have them killed, I'd be the one you'd call for the job. The only thing is, I wouldn't kill political figures. Just, you know, typical celebrities (actors and such).

My friend always talks about how he'd really love to be a hitman or a cleaner.

As for me, my dream would require talent, chance, and unlimited money.
I'd love to run a small dev. house and keep the dream of 2D gaming going for whatever consoles/handhelds are out at the time. 2D is finally going the way of the dinosaur, and I'd be damned if I let it just fade comepletely from public light.

I'd like to be a lottery winner.

Assuming money was no object, I'd be a poet. (I may actually get there someday without divine intervention...we'll see.)

I also wouldn't mind being a professional basketball player, or a musician, but someone would have to totally rewire my genes at this point.

In terms of interesting jobs that I COULD actually do with a little training, I've always been intrigued by advertising and graphic design...and I've love to have a shot at being a talk show host like Leno or Letterman.

Hrm... I've always had these fantasies:

*Legendary RnB Vocalist (I WILL get there, damnit)
*Hip Hop Video Background Dancer
*World-Renowned Illustrator
*Greatest Inventor (Pfft. now THIS is a long shot).

speedpop

Has problems recognising girls
Musician.

The ones that play in those small jazzed up clubs and spew forth their talent in 2 hours or so, no concerns about who does what or major deadlines or interviews or pleasing the general public. Friend of mine is doing this right at the moment and being semi-successful locally, he's asked me now and again if I'd join him. Think I need more time though :D

working in a radio station. I wouldn't even have to be a DJ but that would be nice. I took a few broadcasting classes while I was in the military and it was just the most awesome fun thing ever being on the air playing music. sadly, I moved and there are no colleges around here that offer such a degree so it will have to wait.

I would like to be an animator of some sort in Pixar, but I gave up on that dream a long time ago. Now, I am getting my business degree with a minor in computer science. I guess I am now aiming to be some sort of network administrator in big company. I will handle the digital communication between individuals or companies, and hopefully screw them up so people will hate each others !

Ah, a kindred spirit. :D

Seriously, aside from ruler of all under heaven, I would want to be a film director and/or writer and/or producer. I still think that's a realistic goal too, though I still don't know how I'm going to go about doing it.
