Gladiator 2 | Official Trailer (2024)

The Cockatrice

I'm retarded?
They actually used hiphop/rap music for a Gladiator movie? LMAO jesus fuck.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
lol at that music :goog_relieved:

I don't know, doesn't look like a bad movie but for sure miles behind the original one. Hope the end product is better.

People really getting touchy about music in a trailer? Come on. You're all better than that.

Anyway, it won't touch the original movie, but I think it still looks good. And I was extremely skeptical. Clearly needed Denzel in there to give the movie some actual star power.

The production values are obviously there. Not sure how anyone is saying this looks "terrible". The cinematography and set design is at least on par with most big budget movies. At least what we've seen so far in this trailer.

About the music used in SOME of the trailer, as an example, the Hallelujah song in Zack Snyder's Justice League trailer was used directly at the end during closing credits in the movie. That's one of the FEW movies to actually have a trailer song in ANY part of the film. Either that song is at the end during credits or it's JUST for the trailer. You lot complaining about the music are smarter than this!

Edit: Connie Nielsen and Pedro Pascal were not enough to elevate this movie with the trailer ... They actually DID need Denzel to be seen in the trailer as an important figure.

thats the new trend nowadays. songs in trailers dont mean the song or tone will be in the final movie.

Danzel as hannibal is stupid but im really excited to see Danzel in this. Great costume design for both him and pedro.

I will see this in the theater because I love the first movie and this has Denzel, but it does look like a bloated Apple TV+ movie.
Also, the trailer really seems to give a lot of the story away.
Yuck again on that bullshit music used.

so Twister 2 and Gladiator 2 both coming to make mockery of the originals. We're in full on 80's terrible sequel hollywood again.

Looks big budget with well crafted set pieces and some well known actors, but that's where the positives end for me.

How is Lucius literally the nephew of the late emperor, son of the emperor's sister, remembers being IN THE COLISEUM from the first film - but doesn't know where he was born or who his mother is?

This seems really dumb.

About the trailer: it's just music, and they're trying to appeal to a wide audience. Riddley Scott is obviously not going to be rocking modern music in his historical drama. I mean, come on

About Denzel's character: he is portraying a real life person who was born in North Africa to a lowly caste and yet rose up to emperor

In general: it looks like a Gladiator sequel to me. I am in

This wasn't as good as the first movie but I enjoyed it. I'm glad Ridley Scott is still making big movies like this. He is turns 87 next week.

Audience score is 84%.

6/10 dissatisfied watch

When I watch gladiator again, I won't be compelled to watch this immediately afterwards.

My friend said it sucked. Scene for scene gladiator 1. Sounds like the force awakens level of copy.
Ah shit.

I havent read the plot, but if G2 is one of these pseudo-remakes which is the same shit as the past movie but in a different wrapper? That sucks.

SW FW was garbage. I dont follow SW stuff but I saw it with family. After it ended, even though its a different movie with Han getting killed and such, I still thought to myself if this was supposed to be an alternate remake of the old movies as it had the exact same major plot to kill the reactor core to blow up giant weapon x.

Jesus Christ. At least try to write a different story Ridley, you old fuck. There are so many other gladiator back stories you could have used than the same fucking one again.

How about an actual murderer, who grows as a human being, and deals with the guilt of his past actions? Or a young, impetuous fool, who becomes a gladiator for the glory, and learns the true horror of it all?

Nah, fuck it... dude's family gets killed so he seeks revenge again.

Is this a big movie? Trailers make it look like the entire thing was shot in a green screen warehouse.

It feels very big and they did build huge sets in Malta. Even part of Colosseum but most of it is cgi of course.
Even the actors look like CGI in the trailers. Has that Furiosa look to it. Those sets were a bad investment probably since it still got the digitized soup reputation.

I thought this looked good. Cgi in all recent movies (Marvel especially) hasn't been the best but I didn't feel that in this. I was impressed many times. Also I'm glad they didn't make this PG-13. This has some brutal scenes

I enjoyed it overall but I only saw the first this year so don't really have much of an investment with the franchise.

That said, what a terrible main lead. Honestly, such a boring character and an actor with zero charisma. Should have had Pedro as the focus.

I liked it. the rhino battle, the opening war scene, and the amazing naval collesuem battle were the highlights. Ridley at the peak of his powers.

the lead is awful. he is no Russel Crowe. they shouldve picked a better actor like Robert Pattinson or anyone with some screen presence.

Danzel was great but miscast. i dont buy that an african would have so much power that he would be controlling the senators but he was good in the movie. way better than the lead.

overall, i really liked the movie. I did not think they couldve made a sequel but they did a great job making the story make sense. It feels like a continuation instead of a reboot. i just wish they had cast a better actor for Lucius. Shouldve just cast the original actor.

I enjoyed it. Sure, there are things to nitpick, but the fact that Gladiator 2 even happened and that a lot of it was very well done is enough for me to look past any minor gripes I may have.

I really enjoyed the cinematography, music, costume design, and the overall larger scale of the movie. Watching on IMAX was awesome.

What the original had going for it was a charismatic protagonist AND antoganist. This movie has neither so it feel like a pale copy of it's predecessor overall.
