When I came to the US, I went straight into 4th grade. Now that I am studying for the GMAT, I realize I never had formal English grammar training. Every single English class has been about reading novels and writing essays.

So GAF, do you have any tips to master English grammar? I like videos but realized most videos are aimed at small kids or foreign students. They usually cover basic verb conjugation and basic parts of a sentence. Nothing really covers anything beyond that.

For those that took the GMAT, what were some of the most helpful things you did to improve your score on the sentence correction section?

Personally, I just did all the sentence correction exercises in the official guide to prepare. Considering English is not my native language, and that I had only spent some three months in an English speaking country before taking the test, I assume formal grammar knowledge is not a strict necessity (I scored 45 in the verbal part).

Not in the US, so I haven't done GMAT, but this is what I used for some similar stuff. It's British English, but it shouldn't be a problem on the grammar level.

I bought the advance one and I find it strange to follow. Also the British English may be a problem for the GMAT which is strict American English. I'm still going through it though.
