Goddamn! GDAM is fun!! RARR!!!

After I decided not to finish Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, I needed something to quench my gaming thirst. I went to the store and found Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee staring at me with the low price of $19.99. Being the Godzilla fan that I am, I sat there wondering "why don't I own this yet?" I took my new treasure home and began to play some multiplayer battles, and I am delighted to say this game is FUN!

GDAM is basically Rampage on 'roids. The chaos and destruction is delicious. The controls are responsive and easy to learn, and the game appears reasonably well-balanced so far. The game is simple in design, and extremely entertaining. It is amazing how well the team at Pipeworks captured the feeling of Godzilla and Friends duking it out within well-populated areas.

I also started the adventure mode, and the computer-controlled characters are pretty good. So far I have been on the edge of my seat on many of the battles. There are plenty of characters and cities to unlock and lots of modes, so this game will keep me busy for awhile.

Finally, it must be said that the game has without question the greatest power-up ever to be appear in a video game: MOTHRA AIR STRIKE! :lol

Anyone else have this sweet game?

No. I'm sorry, the game lost me with the Sky Temple key part. Completely killed the pacing of an otherwise good game.

I'll take mindless destruction for now. :D

GODDAMM is a really fun game. Not the greatest game ever, but it was good for a few late night monster battles. I think the most fun we had with it was after all the monsters had been opened up and we used a few codes: one to make the monsters smaller and one to make everything throwable. This way you're constantly tossing HUUUUGE buildings at each other.

A lot of people poo poo the game, but it's good clean cheap fun.

I really enjoyed Godzilla: DAMM (God DAMM, haha)... you're right, the controls are simple, but there is enough balance and strategy there to keep players going. Also fun as hell to knock the Space Needle down. *grin*

Strangely enough, I didn't like the recent upgrade, Save The Earth. It has more monsters and levels, but feels boring (despite playing a little faster). Dunno, I guess it just "got old." Perhaps I also didn't like how any semblance of a wacky 'zilla plot was removed.

Aside: I reviewed the recent game for a fan site and one of the developers posted a response that accused me of not playing it, among a host of other things. Thing is, he tried to pose as a "fan" instead of one of the dev'rs, so many of his comments (such as his buds getting together to play) were complete fabrications. Oh, the irony. Always good to keep in mind that message boards record your IP address... something to really consider if it has "pipeworks" in it.

Oh, and another reason the game is great: It has the original Godzilla theme!

I have the Gamecube version, by the way. I'm sure the Xbox version is just as good, if not a little better.
