I'm going to see what I hear is a stellar dermatologist; accolades up the wazoo and all. I'm really embarrassed, though, because I don't really have many marks on my body, but I do have some moles in my groin area....

So besides the skin check, I'm basically going to see him so he can specifically take a look in-depth at my groin area. Feels weird man.

Does anybody else go to the dermatologist for suspicious body marks? Have you ever had one that turned out bad? Have you ever had them in places you really wish they weren't -_-

I never knew how important it was to apparently do this for yourself, but check your bodies at least every month or two. Know where your moles and freckles are, and if you ever see a new one or it begins growing, see your derma. If the mark is irregular, varied in size/length/texture, asymmetrical, different colors, or larger than 6 mm, it is time to see a derma because it could be a skin cancer.

Yep, I have had lots of biopsies. The worst was one on my neck so deep it was connected to the muscle, I got really sick when they removed it, so my doctor had to drive me home. And try not to worry about the groin stuff, they won't make it awkward or anything, they're used to it.

I've never had to have any spots removed, but skin cancer does run in my family (Irish) so I get checked occasionally.

I remember a dermatologist told me that non uniform spots are a bad sign. If a mole is symmetrical and uniform it's probably OK, but if it's splotchy and variant you might need to have it checked out. Don't feel too weirded out by them checking your groin, gotta do it or you could let a medical problem down there go undetected.

Yes. It was a benign cyst on my right pec. The diagnosing doc sucked. He was impatient and rude. My surgeon--it was outpatient--was awesome.
