For those of you who have read the book, or seen the movie, it does leave you with a question that you can't help ask yourself. Would you return the child back to her awful mother, or let the kidnappers keep the girl?

It's something I go back and forth on. But I think I ultimately side with returning the child back to the mother. In hopes that the mother does do better. I just can't get behind the side that took a happy girl (who doesn't know any better) to give her a potentially better life.

Who do you side with?

If the options were having a child with a bad mother or with kidnappers then I think I'd call the CPS instead.

Haven't read the book, and its been a long time since I saw the movie, but I recall the movie making it out like returning the child to her mother was the wrong call.

Was there a reason they decided to kidnap her versus making it their routine to be a part of the girl's life and check in on her frequently? Maybe even show the mother what a good parent should be over time?
