I was wondering what the best diagnostic programs would be to run on a comp to make sure everything's in tip-top shape--RAM, HDD, etc.

In fact, what's a good freeware RAM tester (that hopefully doesn't have to boot from floppy)?

I think both require to boot from a floppy or cd.

Memtest is good, but get the plus version:
http://www.memtest.org/
and it does have a ISO for CD boot


And most of the hard drive manufacturers have test utilities:

Maxtor
WD
Hitachi/IBM
Seagate
