I'm heading up to Vancouver on vacation, and have no idea about good places to eat. Anyone know of some good spots?

There are plenty of great restaurants in Vancouver. I think it will mostly depend on your proximity, so maybe tell us (roughly) where you are staying.

Also, just trying Google'ing "Vancouver" and "restaurants". I've done that in the past and found several good guides.

Personally, Alexis Taverna is one of my favourite restaurants. The owners also have a hotel/restaurant in Crete, but part of the family lives in Vancouver and runs Alexis.

Well, I'll give you a rundown of the good Japanese and Korean restaurants downtown, since those are the places that I usually eat at.

Japanese Food

Gyoza King - Very good cooked dishes. They pride themselves on not serving sushi. There are a number of donburi, udon, ramen, and other main dishes, as well as appetizers like gomae, chikuwa chiizu, karaage, and yakitori.
Kintaro - Very good ramen house. Everything is done with fresh noodles, and there's a ton of selection for how they'll make the ramen.
Zakkushi - A good place to go if you really like meat.
Hapa Izakaya - Hip, trendy, and a tad expensive, but a fun place to check out.
Guu with Garlic - This Guu is right on Robson Street, and shouldn't be mistaken for their other restaurants on Thurlow and in Gastown. Guu with Garlic is my favorite of the bunch, with a slightly more varied menu, and nice atmosphere. Get here early if you don't want to wait.

Korean

Jang Mo Jib - Leans more toward a younger crowd, with Korean pop music blaring, but the food is really good if you're in the mood for a spicy hot pot, Bool Go Gee, or somesuch.
Ap Gu Jung - Easily my favorite Korean restaurant in Vancouver, with a large variety of dishes. What makes them good though is that their service is awesome. Super fast, and super friendly.

Miscellaneous Restaurants

Stephos - Easily one of the most popular Greek restaurants in the city, but you gotta get there early or you'll be waiting at least an hour to get in.
Cafe Luxy - A nice little Italian place.
Hamburger Mary's - A tasty greasy spoon joint.

Anywho, I hope that helps. All of these places are in the Downtown Core, so they're pretty easy to get to.
