MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Google Inc. said Wednesday that it has signed an agreement to develop up to 1 million square feet on a NASA research center in the heart of Silicon Valley.
The development is part of a partnership between Google and the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View. The company and government agency will work together to develop data management and computing tools, as well as promote entrepreneurial initiatives in outer space.

Google's announcement didn't provide details about what it might build at NASA Ames, but the company has made it clear that it needs more office space to accommodate its rapidly growing work force.
