Google asking for my real ID all of a sudden

Is anyone else suddenly getting Google asking them to verify their age lately? They want either my drivers license, or a credit card, or a selfie.
This happened twice to me today - first when just google searching and then again when I went to Youtube. It says some settings have been adjusted and then asks me to verify my age with a real ID.

I actually did get something like this a while ago, but it was for my dog's Instagram account. It requested a live capture of the account owners face to verify it against photos in the account.

I tried pointing the camera to my dogs face but it kept erroring out saying no face found.

I figured as he was the only face on any of the photos and the account was in his name then he'd have the right face to verify against.

They are using "ai" to guess peoples age based on usage. Possibly it f'n up.
Use stable diffusion to make a realistic unique old man pic to fool the ai.

Snipped from above article:
A YouTube spokesperson told CNN that its parent company, Google, "uses the world's most advanced security to protect user data against threats, and users can choose the privacy settings that are right for them including deleting their data."

The spokesperson added that YouTube will not retain data from users' IDs or credit cards to use for advertising purposes.

Internet use will soon become a privilege.
It is inevitable.
People have to eventually get comfortable with joining the Hive or fight back.

The internet was so much better before governments and big corporations interfered with it.
We had it so good, and we didn't even know it.

I knew they would come and tax it like they do everything else. Government exist to regulate.

Getting real tired of tech companies demanding to get a copy of my ID.

It's hard not to think of nefarious reasons or motives.

Try using a VPN.

Private Forums VPN, Open-Source. etc

Nope, but that looks like a great way to not use Google.

You could try the Death Stranding 2 trick to get around it.

Facebook and X use real humans, so it might not work.

Just grab any cheesy Halloween mask and see how Google's facial recognition likes that. If they insist on face scans to access their stuff, I say everyone rock a troll mask and watch their precious tech choke. Imagine the look on their faces when the whole userbase is a bunch of monsters.

I have not seen this, but would love a reason to never use GOOGLE again.
They are preying on the fact that people are lazy and used to having the same conveniences. Look at banks or ISP's making their services worse for the existing customers or charging more money, knowing that majority will stay with them.

Abandoning Google's ecosystem is going to be even harder. They're everywhere in people's lives these days... your phone, your email, your virtual drive, your documents, your work apps and so on.

I know I have years of family photos on their service.

That should be illegal in a number of european countries, like: spain, portugal, france, netherlands, germany.
Try using a VPN?

I haev to use my id to buy alcohol. I dont see this as a problem.

The idea of a free internet is gone, sadly. Its going to be regulated.

Do you buy alcohol over the internet?
And how likely is the clerk going to remember anything, after having a quick look at your photo and birthdate?

Linux

VPN

Jailbreaked Phone (Linux Phones are also a thing but they are a pain to use)

They can't really do much against open-source.

People never warned everyone that they would suddenly go full spyware. it's hard to do this without going day one.

If i knew Windows would go on the same route, I would have never switched from Linux.

I remember people sucking and licking the balls of Google saying "poor Google doesn't make money so thats why they do X".
Really, I already started my process of getting away from them.

Sucks when you are using Google for so long it's hard to move. What I did was create an alias for every single email I had. I think I can transition out of Gmail but I don't think I will be able to stop using Microsoft email because of Xbox.

Transition to what?

Decoupling from Google will be hard but seems like the kind of thing we have to get over with sooner than later. Eventually you'll have to give an ID just to get in while trying to get out.

As soon as I get this popup I'm canceling my YouTube premium subscription and uninstalling everything Google.

My kids use my YouTube account to watch Aphmau and other kids stuff so it's only a matter of time.
