Music also expanded into 4 new territories, including Greece, Norway, Sweden and Slovakia.

Pretty huge if you ask me. If you're in one of the newly supported countries, check it out!

I wish Google was more vocal about why Canada isn't getting music, although I assume it's for the same reason all the other music streaming services don't come here... because it isn't profitable with our regulations.

Thank god for Rdio

I'm just super happy to not be like all the people above anymore. Excuse me while I go take a sip from my
non-VPN'd
free All Access trial.

What are the regulations that are problems?

This is from 2010, so I don't know how relevant it still is but:

But in Canada, the idea is barely getting off the ground, and one of the biggest players in the industry is blaming royalties sought by major record labels.

"These rates ... are astronomical," Tim Westergren, founder of California-based Pandora wrote in an email to The Canadian Press.

"As long as rights societies take this approach, they will prevent Pandora from launching to Canadian users."

Re:Sound, the agency that collects music royalties in Canada on behalf of record companies and performing artists, has filed a request with federal regulators. Starting next year, it wants to charge web-based music sites that stream to mobile devices the greater of two figures: 45 per cent of the site's gross revenues in Canada or 7.5-tenths of a cent for every song streamed. That's on top of other royalties music services must pay to SOCAN, a separate agency that represents songwriters and music publishing companies.

The proposal, which needs approval from the Copyright Board of Canada, has prompted Pandora to abandon any short-term plans to come to Canada. Canadians who visit the company's website are told that, due to licensing restrictions, they cannot sign up for the service.

use fake address in .ca and you can sub to google music and pay with a credit card

Been doing this since launch along with 4 other people I know, it works perfect

Well, it works less perfectly now. You can't use a Google account that already has a Canadian registered Google wallet anymore, so for some people this means making a new Facebook account.

So here in Finland we're getting Movies - what is it? Is it a subscription movie service?

Netflix is incredibly irritating because it's constantly whining about Facebook, so I'd give a Google service a try.

It's a movie rental and purchasing service. So you can either buy a movie digitally or rent it for a short time.

Canada still doesn't get music? Fuck everything

Yo, I came here to say this and laugh at everyone north of me! So sad that I didnt see this thread until now. The disrespect of Canada with GMusic is reaching comical levels.

Google is hilariously larger than Pandora. IMO this is no excuse. Pay up and bring the service there. Pandora can be excused because they aren't running around dropping THREE BEES on thermostat companies. Google doesn't get to play the poverty card.

Oh yes, fucking sweet, they finally brought something to Sweden! I thought the day would never come (we've only had apps and books on the Play Store up until now, with no word about anything else).

I've already been using the uploading + streaming functionality of GMusic by signing up via a US proxy with a secondary account, but now I can finally do it "properly".

EDIT: There doesn't seem to be a single free song or anything for us, but oh well. It also doesn't seem to be matching any of my songs, even though I know my tags are good. Or maybe you just can't tell whether or not that's happening.

EDIT2: Maybe it is matching songs after all. The number of uploaded songs is increasing faster than it should be able to upload them.

Came in expecting Canada like others.

The regulations are seriously holding Canada back in all kinds of digital distribution.
