Gordon Moore, Intel Co-Founder, Dies at 94

Intel and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation announced today that company co-founder Gordon Moore has passed away at the age of 94.

In addition to Moore’s seminal role in founding two of the world’s pioneering technology companies, he famously forecast in 1965 that the number of transistors on an integrated circuit would double every year – a prediction that came to be known as Moore’s Law.

“All I was trying to do was get that message across, that by putting more and more stuff on a chip we were going to make all electronics cheaper,” Moore said in a 2008 interview.

Yes, this is the man everyone quotes about "Moore's Law". And was one of the most important individuals in the industry, through his contributions.

There is a limit how small you can make the transistors

I'm guessing they'll figure out better methods of using them quantum thingamajigs and maybe there's a dip for a bit but it'll bounce back. Unless for Moore's law it has to be silicon chips, specifically.
