Okay Charger, Andromeda and Busted and Blue have really pushed this up now!
lol
Features have always been a part of Gorillaz and this album has a concept that requires a lot of guests to work. It's a natural evolution from PB.
Well, do you consider Plastic Beach a Gorillaz album? I mean, I don't know how you can say this about Humanz and not the same thing about Plastic Beach, which I remember having a ton of featured artists and whatnot. It's been a thing since the beginning, too, really.
Can we not do this
Like at all.
You could say the same shit about Plastic Beach.
The only members of this band are Damon and Jamie who does the art. No one's stopping you from saying you don't like it or being disappointed but we don't need the "it's not Gorillaz because XYZ bullshit reasoning" in here.
Carnival and SMP took some time to grow on me, but I have grown to really like them both.
Damon appears on more songs here than he does on PB... he's literally not on White Flag, SFJ, Sweepstakes, Cloud of Unknowing, or Glitter Freeze at all
They is literally only DamonYes, of course I would consider Plastic Beach a Gorillaz album. While this has been going on since they started, they have at least sung in some parts of their songs. I don't hear them at all in these new tracks. I don't even hear anything that I would consider to be Gorillaz.
I can see that but there were quite a few tracks on Plastic Beach where they did sing along with the guests. This doesn't seem to be the case here.
No Carnival is not longer than the leak and no he's not on SFJ. The chorus in that song is sung by Gruff Rhys.Is Carnival longer that what we've heard from the leaks?
Also if SFJ is Superfast Jellyfish he is on there.
Gunna wait a few more hours til it's up on Google play. I have the leak a listen or two, but without bonus tracks and just the stuff I haven't heard. I like it, but I do understand the complaints. But I feel like it'll be a grower as was Plastic Beach. There's several great songs on here and there's nothing I dislike but there's no Rhinestone Eyes or Broken or anything and that disappoints me. Not really a huge fan of Busted and Blue.

Tbf Gruff sounds exactly like Damon on that song
yeah but that just begs the question of why he even bothered giving that part to Gruff lolTbf Gruff sounds exactly like Damon on that song
This album is garbage.
It's sad how desperate Damon is to be down with the fellow kids.
How can anyone not like Busted and Blue...it's a gorgeous track
I've listened to it like twice since it originally leaked and it just hasn't gripped me yet. Though I haven't given any of the leaked stuff a full listen outside of "She's my Collar". Just skipped around a bit.How can anyone not like Busted and Blue...it's a gorgeous track

Once I grab the vinyl I'll give it a full playthrough and just lay in bed and take in the whole album.Ah, you gotta listen to in sequence. The way it transitions from Andromeda is *kisses fingers*. It's a good way to break up the album, with a nice slow, depressing, atmospheric track.

Busted and Blue is a beautiful song but it doesn't really grab me. Not a bad song at all.

UP ON SPOTIFY!
Ever since the group formed in 1997, Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn have floated around the idea of a Gorillaz feature film. They discussed it on many occasions, but a few years back they put the speculation to rest. And while that is disappointing, Hewlett has now admitted there is an animated TV series in the works.
In an interview with Exclaim!, Hewlett reveals they have an order for ten episodes that will air some time in 2018. "I'll direct the first and the last one, but we'll have to get someone in to direct the other episodes," he says from London. "I think even attempting to do it all by myself will kill me."
While the group have dabbled with CG and 360 virtual reality for their new video, "Saturnz Barz," he says the series will be two-dimensional. "They'll be that way from now on. I think it's a beautiful style of animation. Everybody does CG now, and it is great when you're making backgrounds, like environments and landscapes, but not the actual characters. I'm still very much inspired by the work of Chuck Jones, and I love that animation. It's art. I'd like to keep the characters in that style for the rest of this campaign. So the characters on the show will be 2D, but everything else is up for grabs."
Murdoc, 2D, Noodles and Russel will all be hand-drawn illustrations, but Hewlett says the door is wide open for anything or anyone else that appears on the show, which will make a connection to the new album, Humanz (out April 28 on Parlophone). "It could be real footage with real people talking to the characters," he says. "We'll have guest appearances in the series by various artists that appear on the album or whoever we happen to write into the series. Or it could be a mix of collage and photography and a bit of CG as well."
Hewlett also discussed the "Saturnz Barz" video, specifically the sinister looking pizza slice that gives a face to dancehall deejay Popcaan's voice. "The pizza slice is not supposed to represent Popcaan the artist. That would have been insulting. It's the ghost in the cellar," he says with a laugh.
"Originally we had most of the food coming out of the fridge singing. I had the idea a long time ago, but then I saw Seth Rogen's Sausage Party, which I thought was hilarious, especially the orgy scene at the end. And then I realized I couldn't have all of the food singing in the video, because people would make those comparisons. But I kept the pizza slice because I found it to be quite disturbing. Every time you pick up a slice of pizza and go to take a bite, the idea that it might have a face is quite disturbing."
On top of the new album, an upcoming tour and the TV series, Hewlett teases that fans will soon be able to wear their favourite animated band. "We also have a clothing company that I've designed all of the clothes for, which are being manufactured at the moment," he says. "We're doing everything we can with Gorillaz, but it's a lot of work and responsibility. Unfortunately, I'm still the only artist on this project. I don't have anybody who draws like me, so I've struggled to keep up the demand for artwork."
12amEST I'm pretty sure. So in roughly 6 hoursWhat time does this go up on Spotify in the US?
Holy crap....someone please hold me.Also do not forget the other news that is rolling out today: Jamie fully confirms that a 10-episode run of a Gorillaz animated series will be happening in 2018. Also confirms that a clothing line is on the way as well. Prepare your wallets.

Got my deluxe cd in the post today. A few too many rap songs for my tastes, but I like the album overall.
Jamie Hewlett's artwork is gorgeous as always.
i suppose you didnt liked plastic beach then?
because the rap songs are very few on humanz o.o
I love Plastic Beach, actually. The only song I don't like on that album is Sweepstakes.
Yeah, I dunno. I like me some rap. People have already discussed how much or how little Albarn features in this album, but it does feel like his voice gets lost a little.
