I want to buy either a LCD screen or a plasma.

These days, one 26" LCD screen is almost the same price as a 42" Plasma, WTF?

Are plasma still unstable as rumored? I hear that plasma have a tube life (something like 10K hours), LCD don't have that kind of stuff, right? Is there anything bad about LCDs?

As far as gaming goes, I guess both kind of screens are giving similar results, supporting 720p and stuff. Both would have a DVI input for mega PC goodness.

I tend to like LCD better but I just want input from Plasma screen owners!

Thanks for the input!

i dont own a plasma.. yet.. will probably get one soonish (have a 27" olevia lcd tv and 3 computer lcds)

Plasmas and LCDs both have somewhat limited lifespans... the typical quoted lifetimes for flat panels are how long it takes them to degrade to half-brightness. The situation has improved alot lately (supposedly), and I think the typical flat panel display has more 40,000 hours until half brightness, which is a fairly long time if you think about it.

For gaming, with Plasma you have to keep in mind the possibilty of Burn-In... it is rarer than before, but still may happen if you dont pay attention to your set.

LCDs tend to have higher resolutions available than Plasmas, but are beat in screen area and black levels (and price, more or less).

For further info you'll want to inspect AVSForum's great flat panel section

Well I just bought my HD LCD and have never been happier :)

I would go LCD, as I played Burnout 3 on my mates 42 inch Panny Plasma but was more inpressed with what I saw on my 32 Inch LCD Samsung...

oh if you like lcd you shoudl check out the upcoming V-series sonys.. should be about 3.2k for 40"

if you'll be doing a lot of gaming, I'd recommend LCD.

Plasmas don't have the true native resolution unless you go big and expensive. 42" HD plasmas are usually 1024x768 res, so you don't have the horizontal resolution for gaming (and also for PC mapping)

They still look fantastic for video/movies etc
