Like I said in another thread, a lot of it has to do with PD only needing 1 day to design a car on PS1, 30 days to design a car on PS2, and 180 days to design a car on PS3. When you are aiming to have 400-700 cars and it takes you 180 days just to make one car (also add in all the other things they have to put together for a GT game), its going to take a very long time to finish it. If it took them 3 1/2 years to make GT4, then GT5 is pretty much expected to take 5 years or more. I pretty much guarantee Turn 10 doesn't spend 180 days on one car (I'm betting they spend around 25% of that time at the most).Niks said:Yeah, Turn10 put out in front a very solid effort... and this cannot be said enough, in half the time its taken Polyphony. That fact resonates very well with fans. GT5 will be a monster, no doubt about it but it has taken far too long..
Afterwhenever GT5 will be released, Polyphony Digital will have to rethink its approach for GT6, because by the current development cycle, we would see GT6 in 10 years.
Anyways I hope Kaz can show us something today that will make the wait a bit more bearable.
GT6 will be out far quicker because they won't have to remake the 700 cars.Niks said:Yeah, Turn10 put out in front a very solid effort... and this cannot be said enough, in half the time its taken Polyphony. Sorry for quoting you again Ranger X, but this is exactly the way I'm thinking. Plus Forza has a release date in a not too distant (and vague) future, which is more than we can say for GT5 right now. It will be interesting to see what Sony has up it's sleeve.Ranger X said:Well, it's because i'm not "a fan". It's because I love racing and have certain standards, certain expectations when it comes to a serious racing game. And now, Forza finally met my level of awesome.

SolidSnakex said:That will only happen changes their development mentality, which is that they really don't care about anyone else. They work at their own speed. I'm personally fine with it because they've never disappointed me before. If GT5 disappoints me (which I really doubt) then i'd say it's time for them to start looking to change things up. But as long as it delivers then they can make games at whatever speed they like.
And in 720p http://cdn2.gran-turismo.com/data/movie/20090603_e3/gt5_concept_movie.wmv (already posted in the other thread, but what the hell.Niks said:

Maybe someone with a good eye can give some input, but to me it looks like a combination of CG and in-game (or replay theater).
Not even the pit with multiple full pit crews? If that's in the game I have to bow down to PD.-viper- said:Probably replay theater. Doesn't look CG.
Actually the Subaru rally car scene looked CG. Pit crew might be real. They showed that years ago.Angst said:Not even the pit with multiple full pit crews? If that's in the game I have to bow down to PD.
Hopefully they'll announce a release date at TGS.
-viper- said:GT5 is at disadvantage for being 1080p. That probably uses a lot of memory. No one is going to care whether the game is 1080p or not, they're just going to care what looks nicer.
They should drop to 720p and max out the graphics. 16 player racing @ 720p60fps would be goood.

Dante said:I played F3 at E3 it isn't on par with GTP visually. It looks good, but GTP is better looking overall.
iamcool388 said:Prologue is better looking than Forza 3? I dunno, but I highly doubt it. The gamersyde video encoded in 60fps looked awesome. Then again, as you say you played it, so what do I know. Their 3 screen set-up was sick though... I wish I could've played Forza 3 in that set-up.

Indeed. I saw that.Dante said:well he got someone to start a thread based on that post![]()

Thanks dude!Goldrusher said:When your PS3 is hooked up to the internet, booting the game will make you download an update. That's currently spec III.
As for the cars, the original release (spec I) had 37 cars. Spec II added 34 more and spec III added the Ferrari California, Lotus Evora and the Citroën GT concept car, bringing the total to 74.
- 74 cars
- 6 tracks
(7 if you count the Daytona oval and road course separately, 12 if you include Fuji with a tweaked chicane and the reverse tracks)
- mission races
- arcade races
- time trial with leaderboards
- splitscreen mode
- online
I don't think there will be two full GT games for the PS3. On both PS1 and PS2, Polyphony's strategy was: 1) A game showing off the technical detail, presentation, and a bevy of good cars, followed by 2) A game improving all aspects of the predecessor, and with a ridiculously huge amount of content.bdizzle said:assuming by the time it comes out the ps4 is released and ps3 support is still there. at this rate, the ps4 would be out 3-4 years by the time gt6 is released for the tripple

I think upgrades must be in GT5, but, of course, none of the details are known yet. Roll on next month![]()

skybaby said:So I just got a PS3 and wanted to try prologue. Couple of questions:
1. Will my Logitech MOMO wheel work with it or just the G25?
2. I can get the downloadable version for cheaper (and a lot easier) than the disc (no, I can't buy from target at $10, the US is really far away ;p). Any big disadvantages between the download and disc versions?
Thanks guys.
