A few weeks ago my desktop PC stopped working, narrowed it down it being graphics card related i beleive. PC seems to boot fine but monitor(works on other devices) doesnt receive anything and goes into standby mode, i've tried swapping the card out for another AGP card, and it seems to have the same problem, not sure what to try next, buy a PCI card?

Try running it in safe mode. If you still get no video, then it sounds like the AGP controller on your motherboard. If that's the case, the only thing left to try(I can think of) is updating the BIOS. Then, if no success, I'd say get a new Mobo. But I'd try to test that vid card on another system before I bought a new motherboard. Just some ideas...

Hey you can always try www.protonic.com

It's free and they have always helped me w/ tech support stuff.....major props..

Safe mode isn't gonna do crap if he can't even see a bootup screen and bios.. Try a pci card, if that works the agp slot is most likely dead, if that doesn't even work get a new mobo.

Aye, I misread your post a bit...sorry...DAY is right...try a PCI card. If video works then try the other stuff in my post above...

Just got a PCI card, that didn't work, this means try a new MB doesn't it? I really wanted to avoid that as its so much hassle.

I really can't think of anything else but get a new motherboard, sorry. Because it really sounds like a hardware issue, and you're ruled out the video card. Maybe the guys at protonic.com can help (see link above). It's worth a shot. I've been shocked by some of the stuff they knew. Good Luck...
