Spiders posted a proper roadmap for GreedFall II: The Dying World early access. The game will initially launch only on Steam, and they're planning to bring it for more platforms on full release.

Devs also provided a lengthy FAQ and 50+ minutes long video explaining their approach and reasons behind the Early Access launch

I get that they want to follow the early access success of BG3, but just like with BG3, I will wait until it's finished.

Hell, BG3 still wasn't finished when I played it after 1.0 release, it was missing proper epilogue which only got added after I finished it, and I still haven't seen it..

I hate early access 😱
They said the game was extremely ambitious for them and they change quite a lot of systems so they decided to use EA to get feedbacks and see if they were foing in the right direction. I was disappointed too, but I think its a good call in the end. They are a very small studio and I get they dont want to fail on such a big project.

Personally I will wait for the full release but will buy it day one whatever happens. Greedfall is probably my favorite AA western Rpg ever and I also loved Steelrising and Technomancer from these guys.

Their games have low budget but they ooze with passion and talent.

I wanted to like the first but those controls were more jank than rdr2
Same for me.
When I bought the game, I was still on Xbox One X. The input latency at 30fps made combat too sluggish.
I gave up after a few hours.
They patched it to 60fps for PS5/XSX, though. Maybe I should give it another shot now.

Definitely buying this one on release. The first was very solid and a nice surprise. It had some jank but it was still worth the price (I got it on sale but I liked it enough to pay full price).

I tried on series X and it still sucked. Maybe that was before the patch idk

IGN released a preview for GreedFall II. Looks like devs directly references Dragon Age: Origins as a main inspiration, the game will have a new semi real-time with pause combat similar to Origins

The change in combat looks interesting, but it could go either way at this point. The footage the showed were extremely early and janky, we'll see at release.

I really wish Spiders all the success with this game. I feel they have a lot of cool ideas but are always being held back by their budget.

I liked the first game but I felt the choices you were given in terms of determining the story were limited.

The way they described it initially it seemed like you could go to the island and be a total asshole to the people and basically colonize them. Knowing spiders other games I shouldn't have had my hopes up high but hope this one sells alot.

Great, if there is one thing I hated in DA:O, it was its combat (and deep roads).
I might pass on this game just for that, despite enjoying first Greedfall well enough (7/10).
It looks like they saw success of BG3 and thought that game was successful because of its combat. But...that ain't it.

To be fair, combat might be an improvement from the first game as you can now control entire party, where the past game had active pause but you only could give commands. So you will be able to use skills not only from the protagonist, but also from companions which I guess can make combat more tactical? The rest of the game looks fairly similar to GreedFall 1, at least based on the gameplay videos they released so far

My impression was that earlier BioWare games were always a template and big inspiration for Spiders, so I'm not surprised they're trying to emulate various elements from their games. I think the only inspiration they took from BG3 was releasing the game first in Early Access. Their past comments seems to imply that main reason why they wanted early access is to being able to show a slice of the game earlier, get feedback from how it plays and improve it for the complete product, similarly as Larian was doing with their past games

After playing some of the first one the whole roadmap should be about making a decent combat system, much more enemy variety and non-reusing the same assets for locations over and over.

I hope the game is shorter than the first one. I liked it for about 25 hours but it dragged after that. More focus and polish on a shorter game is better than some sprawling stretched out game that gets boring.

Early access titles should cost next to nothing. You’re asking us to invest time and help you QA your game and give feedback. As you improve and get closer to release the game cost should rise. show those early backers some love!

Don't forget the game had a budget of... 5 million euros.

With that in mind, I think they made a stellar job. But I also agree with you, these were clearly the main problems of the game, along with the backtracking during the last part.

Earlier on this was sort of the case, early access had a lower price than launch, and this still very occasionally happens.

It's essentially the same with buying digital games, where is the saving to the consumer for not having a game sold to a retailer and their cut + the production savings?

It's the consumers fault, they keep buying them full price, so people keep selling them full price.
