Using cel-shaded 3D models and lowering the framerate to better approximate hand-drawn animation isn't a new technique, but this is by far the most impressive effort I've seen. Actually mistook it for sprites on the first viewing.

Maybe Baiken, because as much as I like playing as her, she's probably the most generic character in the cast.


They need at least 3 new variants of Faust, btw, otherwise game is incomplete.

Haven't touched GG in years. Last I heard he was low tier and if you couldn't use his mist cancelling....well....pick a different character. Is +R the one of psn/xbla or the vita one?

Well, that could be one of the benefits of moving to 3D. They'll have more 'space' and new engine to work with. I'm confident they'll get it to work work well.

Also same here. I dig the fact that they're making the transition easier for most fans by having the exact same animations but I guess sprites is a sacrifice that had to be made.

Since I'm apparently the only person in existence that has played GG's story mode I have bad news for you Potemkin fans:
he sacrifices himself in his ending to protect the King of Zepp from an attack by Crow.
 
On the topic of gameplay, I hope they bring back the EX forms for fighters from GGXX. I really appreciated the fact that there were essentially two different versions of fighters to try out. I was bummed that Blazblue scrapped that. Then again, I didn't touch the other releases past the original game.

You aren't the only one lol. I thought it was fake at first when I saw him at the top. I think it's really cool that he is there though.
 
I'm thinking that (if they have to) they should cut Axl, Dizzy, Justice, Kliff and Venom.

They'll need a keep-away character but Axl is boring.

BlazBlue didn't scrap it, just not every character got EX. In CS and on wards everyone did.

I'm pretty sure the console version of GGX3 will have EX stuff it's a staple

What? Why the fuck would Dizzy and Venom get cut? They are a big part of the story. Axl isn't dead yet and has no reason to not be in it as well.

Zappa, Robo-Ky, order Sol, Kliff and Justice are out, I'm confident of that. Venom, ABA, Anji I-No, and Axl might be dropped as well, but not all of them. My predictions.
 
Oh great, now Sol's all super muscular because of the Unreal Engine. This thing is a plague upon video games!

I am kidding, "UNREAL MADE EVERYONE BALD SPACE MARINES!" is patently false and one of my biggest pet peeves.
 
Never played GG, but the static images look like something from Flash, and blonde guy looks way too stiff. In motion though, the game is very, very impressive. Beautiful, even.
