Either Michael symbolizes the white patriarchy hunting down feminists that threaten his archaic way of life or he is a transman oppressed by bigoted white cisgenders and driven to homicidal rage because THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HIM!!! IF they were going to reboot (again) I would prefer they just drop Laurie Strode being Michaels (unknown) sister entirely. Felt dumb when they tacked in on in the original series and will feel dumb here too. Same with all that Cult/Samhaim BS they added.

You can have Laurie as she was in the original, just a vulnerable teen babysitter who MM happens upon when he "comes home". So much scarier when there is no motive driving the killings. Its just the Boogey Man killing people who get in his way or are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If MM had come back to Haddenfield just to kill Laurie.... she would have been killed before anyone knew MM was in town.



But the OP's idea would be cool about Laurie(the survivor of the murder spree) coping with the mental trauma. Thinks she sees MM everywhere. She thinks she is just going crazy, until the deaths start happening and are reported in the paper...... and ultimately we find out that Laurie is killing people.

Edit: Wait, what I describe above is pretty similar to that French movie "High Tension"..... hate when memory and imagination get confused.
