Halo 2 delayed in Europe

By two days!!!

Microsoft has issued a release this morning revealing that Halo 2 will hit UK retailers on Thursday, November 11th of this year, just a couple of days after the November 9th American date announced at E3 this year. Perhaps Peter Moore can get "/ 11th" added to his November 9th tattoo...

The release makes no mention of territories outside the UK, although a quick word with Microsoft this morning reveals that the Nov 11th date applies to all European territories - except, interestingly, Switzerland, France and Belgium, where the 11th is a Bank Holiday. They can all look forward to getting hold of it on the 10th instead. Lucky sods.

November 11th isn't a bank holiday in Switzerland, certainly not in this area anyway.
Due to the Swiss not taking part in World War 1, it would be a bit cheeky having a holiday.

I hope this isn't a PAL thing, us Aussies better get it on November 9!

I'm not sure, but nothing big gets released here on a Tuesday, it's usually Thursday/Friday. No big deal, with the time zone differences it's barely 24hrs.

Pug is right. This is just an attempt to not break the 9th November (just realised that's 9/11 using European date convention!) worldwide launch. They'd have to ship copies to retail before the weekend for the 9th to be a practical official release. It is just asking for the official date to be broken and Halo 2 would likely have been widely available on the 6th and 7th.

MCV have a story about the trade wanting to tighten its street dates after the Driv3r fiasco. Of course the "fiasco" for them was the early release date and their reasoning for stopping early releases is beneficial for trade not the end consumer :p
