Halo 2 for vista only PCs (caution: baseless speculation ahead)

ok, cruising home in traffic, i thought popped into my head regarding halo 2 for PC.

first, according to bungie.net, there will be somesort of map editor for it.

There will also be some kind of map-customization ability. Does that mean you can build your own maps from scratch, pixel by pixel, importing your own textures, scripts and detailed shaders? Or does it mean one empty room and a crate? Well, we'll have more news on that later this year, but it will be cool, we guarantee that.

my random speculation is, what if this editor allows you to use the games existing textures and objects only.... with the kicker being that they would be completely compatable with halo 2 for xbox/360.

maybe bungie (or someone) could hand select from these user created maps, and offer them over live?

is this even technically feasable?

element said something about this, I think that bundled with the XDK there is a tool to enable custom content from the users

While possible, I suspect most of Bungie is busy with BNP. I doubt we'll see more new content for Halo 2.

but thats why this almost makes sense. if its even pausable that the actual map files/data are compatable, all bungie needs to do is have someone offer them (or some of them) for download on live. it could even be someone at MS doing this...

Never going to happen.

Microsoft will never allow anything from a PC to be loaded onto a 360. It's simply runs too high of a risk of hiding some code in there that wold allow people to hack the machine.

Not to say I wouldn't love it.
