Halo TV Show is finally coming (2019ish)

It’s a big day for Halo – today, SHOWTIME president and CEO David Nevins announced the network has ordered a 10-episode season based on the legendary video game franchise!
In its adaptation for SHOWTIME, Halo (working title) will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Kyle Killen (Awake) will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct multiple episodes and also executive produce the hour-long series which enters production in early 2019.
Halo is our most ambitious series ever, and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded,” said Nevins. “In the history of television, there simply has never been enough great science fiction. Kyle Killen’s scripts are thrilling, expansive and provocative, Rupert Wyatt is a wonderful, world-building director, and their vision of Halo will enthrall fans of the game while also drawing the uninitiated into a world of complex characters that populate this unique universe.”

I hope it’s about John and not some rando. I get that you may be able to tell a better story if you crate something original, but... it’s about time we got to see the chief in action.

Interesting... Hunt the Truth was great and they've got some interesting back story in that universe. Even Forward Until Dawn was pretty good.

nah, there are more stories to tell that doesn't always involve Master Chief. Like Harvest or Onyx

I imagine it'll be a retelling of existing events but maybe with a new perspective or twist. I can't imagine they'd do a show that required you to know 5+ games of info to make sense.

Sort of like a visual novelization of the games.

Though I would be down with some new stories.

I would love like an animated show of pretty much the whole series and a bunch of stand alone movies like what DC does with it's cartoons.

Better late than never.
I found the Halo universe to be confusing, especially the whole Promethean and reclaimer stuff.

Been hearing about Halo tv shows forever. Maybe this could pull me back in to the series after Halo 4 and 5 ruined it for me.

eww wish it was on a network other than Showtime, but if Showtime is willing to do it and no other network is so be it. Beggars can't be choosers!

Everyone is always saying Halo is dead when theres stuff like this happening, tons of new books and comics too. They usually do this kind of thing when a main Halo game drops. Maybe this hints that Halo 6 is looking like 2020? Looking forward to the show - its been a long time coming.

The Showtime choice makes me happy - much better than normal cable like Syfy channel or something. They can do more adult oriented stuff too. Showtime resurrected Twin Peaks so im good with them.

Its really not that complicated if you know where to look (plenty of halo lore tidbits on youtune and halopedia)

But for these 2 particular things for example: the prometheans were the soldier class of forerunners that were led by the didact. The prometheans you see in 4 and 5 are the remnants of both prometheans and ancient humans that have been conscripted and transformed into AI. The process made them practically flood-proof but it fractured their memories and personalities making them into somewhat-feral automatons (though they clearly listen to didact, the librarian, warden eternal and cortana)

Reclaimer is just the forerunner glyph for humans. Didact aside, many forerunners believed humans were meant to succede them. And in truth, we were meant to have the mantle from the beginning but the forerunners threw a hissy fit and either killed or exiled the precursors outside of the galaxy (those who stayed decayed in the form of a powder that would give rise to the flood.)

On second thought its pretty complicated lol. Lets just say theres a lot of books for a reason.

The hype is real. Which comes first: Halo the Series or Halo Infinite? I guess it depends on what early 2019 means and when they start shooting scenes, out of pre production. Also depends if we see any more of Halo Infinite until next E3.

My guess is it's a 2020 game if nothing before E3.
