Even though I'm from Seattle, I'm pretty straight and narrow. I've never been drunk and I don't smoke pot. That said, I enjoy a good stoner song. So, what are your favorites.
I'll start with a few.
The king of stoner songs, in my opinion, is A Passage to Bangkok. This song is essentially a travel guide for how to get the dankest stuff in the 70s. I don't want to over represent Rush but every time my brother, who has dedicated his life to drugs, would get high when I was in high school, he would come to my room and demand that I play Tom Sawyer, which he called the "Get High Song".
This song's about something a lot heavier than weed, so it might not be an appropriate representative for the day but of all the Sabbath songs about drugs, Snowblind is my favorite. Ozzy doesn't sound horrible. The rhythm section is at its best. The riffs are awesome. This is an all around great song.
Probably my favorite band ever is the Nethlands' The Gathering. I'm in love with Anneke's voice and all of their songs, regardless of the singer, have a dreaminess that brings me into another world. One of these songs that fits today's theme well is Herbal Movement. I love the lyrics in this song too. It's extremely simple but does exactly what it needs to. The Gathering is the best at this.
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult is a pretty cool industrial industrial band. Most of their songs are the finer things in life: sex, drugs, murder and Satan. It's hard to pick a favorite but A Daisy Chain 4 Satan is definitely up there.
