TOP 5 JORDAN MOMENTS (GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME)

1) Flu game
2) Ending Magic Johnsons career
3) Game winner against Cleveland (It was the elimination game, they were down by one, a few ticks left, and Jordan seemed to hang in the air forever. And then Ehlo's exasperated flailing and falling to the floor with Jordan pumping his fists. Classic).
4) His "last" game in MSG where he wore the original Jordans and proceeded to score, what, 45? He made two of those crazy over-the-shoulder circus shots in a row.

5) When he scored 51 and 45 in those two consecutive games against the Pacers and the Nets in his last comeback at age 39 (or was it age 40). It was fun watching him leave Kenyon Martin in his tracks.

I fell out of my chair!

Seriously-- they were so friggin' dirty, those Pistons. :lol The funniest part is his tongue still sticking out, undaunted, despite being mugged. :D Here's another Piston gem:

Rodman with the jab to the stomach and knee to the groin, and Isiah with the mugging from behind. Vinnie Johnson looks on in horror and wonders, "how can my teammates be this dirty?" :p

The funniest part of this thread is the fact that not one, but two posters said that their favorite Jordan moment was "ending Magic Johnson's career" just to get bionic's goat. :D For good measure, allow me to tear down another of bionic's idols, shown here getting jammed on by MJ:

Jordan actually completes this jam despite being virtually horizontal and reaching over Hakeem towards the rim. I have it on tape. :D

I'm pretty sure, at least...

Unless Jordan averaging 32 points, 7.5 rebounds, 11.6 assists, 3.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game over 5 games against Magic in the '91 Finals, breaking Magic's assist record for the Finals, disheartened Magic so much that he was just never the same and made him decide to contract HIV so that he wouldn't look too bad in retiring? ;) :D

The Best Ever

And finally, for one of my favorite Jordan stories, from the editor of Slam magazine:

I'm going to end this MJ tribute with my favorite MJ story, which I've probably told here before, and which I'll tell another 7,000 times over the next 50 years. It was some point in the mid-to-late-'80s, before MJ had rings on every finger but after he'd extablished himself as the best player in the NBA. I was there in Atlanta, wearing my Hawks t-shirt, equal parts hoping for a Hawks win while waiting to see what Mike would and could do. He started out slow, missing his jumpers and playing kind of sluggish, scoring just 6 points in the half. My man Dominique, though, went for about 15, and the Hawks had the lead at the halfway mark.

As the buzzer sounded and the teams walked off the court, me and my boys ran down to a space that kind of overlooked where the opposing teams walked into their locker rooms, putting us roughly eye-to-eye with the players. As MJ walked off, we cranked it up: "You suck, Mike!" "Nique's lighting you up, Mike!" "You got no game, MJ!"

Mike looked up at us, never breaking stride, and stared each of us in the eye as he walked past. He never broke stride and never said a word, but we all shut up pretty quickly, wondering if he was going to come over the railing at us. We went back to our seats and laughed about how the Hawks had Mike and the Bulls by the throat, and how we had sure told Mike a thing or two.

In the second half, Mike came out and scored 40 points, holding Nique to 8, and the Bulls won by 7.

Lesson? Respect is never handed to you, and there's always someone you're going to have to win over.

Random factoids:

- 221 career games of 40+ points.

- 39 career games of 50+ points.

- 5 career games of 60+ points.

- 60 career games of 40+ points and 8+ assists in the same game.

- One of only two players in the last 30 years to have 50+ points and 10+ assists in the same game (57 and 10 vs. Washington in '93)

- Only player since Wilt to score 50+ in 3 consecutive games (53, 50, and 61)

- Scored 40+ 39 times in one season ('87).

- Holds the NBA record for highest scoring average in a 5 game playoff series, at 45.6 ppg.

- Holds the NBA Finals record for highest scoring average for a Finals series (41 ppg vs. Phoenix in '93).

- Ran off a string of 7 straight triple-doubles in the '89 season, and 13 in one 16 game stretch.

- Holds the NBA Finals record for most points in one half, with 35 against Portland in '92, despite sitting out nearly 8 minutes that half.

- Has several of the most ridiculous stat lines you'll ever see, including (but not limited to :p) :

69 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals, and 3 blocks against Cleveland in '90
53 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists, and 6 steals and 2 blocks versus Phoenix in '89
47 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocks vs. Indiana in '89
42 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks vs. Phoenix in the '93 Finals.
57 points, 10 assists, 5 steals, 4 blocks vs. Washington in '93
54 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks vs. LA in '93
46 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks vs. Miami in the '92 playoffs
54 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks vs. Cleveland in '90.
44 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks vs. Golden State in '90.
45 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 6 steals and 2 blocks vs. Boston in '90
45 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks vs. Philly in the '91 playoffs
52 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks vs. Denver in '89
41 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, 7 steals, and 2 blocks vs. the Clippers in '89
48 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, 6 steals, and 4 blocks vs. Atlanta in '89

You get the picture, I'm sure... :D

And the only reason you were subjected to this is because my freaking dog had to go nuts barking and woke me up about an hour and a half before I had to be awake, so I had to fill the time somehow. Blame him. ;) Sure, I could've read the day's paper more thoroughly instead, but what fun would that have been? :D
