I..did not even realize there was a second disc. I'll check it out in the AM.

The first was pretty good! Definitely makes my night better after the horrific disappointment that is the new In Flames.

I'm gonna go back on my previous statement, and yeah the first disc is definitely the better one. Although the album as a whole is pretty much fantastic.

Man, what the hell. This album is actually pretty fucking good.

Like.... I never would have thought Metallica could bring it back, but goddamn.

Man Dream No More is fucking tight as hell! Love it

YOU TURN TO STOOONNNEE!! So awesome

Also I'll be shocked to see if they can pull off Spit live

The first time I heard Atlas Rise I wasn't that into it, but it's grown on me. The Maiden vibe is pretty cool.

I've only listened to the whole album once so far. Will have to give it a few more listens to fully appreciate it.

Only listened to it once but the released tracks definitely feel different from the rest of the album. With that said, on first listen I'm not finding much to like sadly enough, aside from Dream no More and Spit out the Bone (+ released tracks). But albums always need repeated listens to click for me, so I'll give it more spins.

Halo On Fire is my favorite on the album. Those last minutes and James voice...it's just a killer fucking song.

HALO ON FAAAYAAA!!!!

HALO ON FAAAYAAA!!!!

The reverb and the grit to his voice reminds me of the 80's stuff. I'm hoping he retains it live but I doubt he will, I imagine it would be too much strain.

I like Death Magnetic. It sounds kind of crummy, but I like it. IMO, it rarely sounds super confident, though.
HW sounds confident, and is far better than DM.

I would really love a remaster of DM with this level of production now. Not that will ever happen but I would love it.

It sounds like they have dropped using baritone guitars. That is a very good thing. Baritone guitars can be used creatively, but Metallica is not able to use them in any way that is good.

Murder one is certainly a homeage to lemmy / motorhead

One crown/ born to lose
One man/ does not give a damn
One man/ no excuse
Aces wild/ aces high/ all the aces/ aces til you die
White lines fading/ the iron horse rolls on and on and on
Hear your thunder/ still feeding back
Still hear your thunder, the man in black
Born to lose/ living to win
One fist/ hammers through the mist
One first/ steady on
One heart/ Die Hard from the start
One heart/ beats its song
Murder all/ murder one/ gimme murder/ second class to none
Headlights fading/ the iron horse rolls on and on and on
Hear your thunder/ still feeding back
Still hear your thunder/ the man in black
Born to lose/ living to win
Hear your thunder/ still feeding back

I want the Riff Origins, but I'm also glad we're getting LoS 2016 and some of those covers. Just having a version of the Ronne Rising Medley is going to be sweet.

So how are the disc 3 covers and Lords of Summer? The exact same or different? They mentioned they would be updated for "2016 standards" but I dont know what that means.

I only got to hear that one on a stream that had bad quality but it sounding way different. The lyrics are different, James sounds a lot different. I thought it was pretty interesting to hear James sing it the way he did. I like the song now. I'm also excited to hear what they mean by "2016 standards" when applied to the recent covers because those were seriously good shit. May mean re recorded with the same equipment they used on the new album or remastered to improve and normalize the quality of the original releases, which varied a lot in terms of sound quality.

Spit Out The Bone was crazy. I was meh about the first leaks, but this is good. The drums are insane. Vocals are okay too.

Dream No More + Halo on Fire + Spit out the Bone + Atlas, Rise! for me are all instant classics! Love them!!

The others are more mixed for me; some are good, some are so-so but I can't really (right now) consider any of them outright bad.

Obviously this is all very subjective and everyone has their own opinion on these things (as they should) but I really feel this album is much, much better than St.Anger and Death Magnetic put together. Wouldn't quite put it up there with their first 4 albums though.

All in all, I can't wait to see them live once more and actually hear them play new songs along with the cherished classics!

For me the only memorable track of the second disc so far is Spit Out The Bone. First disc is a lot better than the second overall.

And to echo the comments of others here, the production is phenomenal. Like, really really good.

Half way through Disc 2, not as exciting as 1 but better than DM.

Savage, ManUNkind and Murder One aren't clicking for me. I agree Disc 1 is a lot better. I do like every other song a lot though.
