DAMMIT!!! Where is Unforgiven 42??!?!

Digging this album, even with a few that aren't catching my ears yet like the faster ones are.

Tomorrow!!

I still think the guitar tone sounds exactly like the one used in Death Magnetic and I'm not a fan of bands using the same sound on multiple records, but this is a very solid album.

My favorites after a few listens are Moth into Flame, Dream No More, Halo on Fire and Spit Out The Bone. Damn, Bone is so good. Hopefully I can find the vinyl at a decent price here in Mexico.

It seems like this album is a greatest hits collection of all of Metallica's "styles". Fast thrashers, heavy anthems, and a few slower metal ballads. It's like they made songs to please any fan from any era.

Thanks. It's not the most extensive collection or anything, but I'm pretty happy to have it:

The number one thing on my list of shit to get is the Sad But True single with the elevator mix of Nothing Else Matters. Shit is pretty pricey for a single, and I'm afraid they'll wind up including it with the remaster box set of The Black Album, and I'll have two like with that Creeping Death single, which is also included inside the Ride the Lightning set.

As you should! Looks awesome! Wish I had the money to spend on it! Alas, the regular CD will have to do :p

Does anyone else think the Confusion video is fantastic? So dark and sad.
That and Here Comes Revenge. My favorite videos.

Yeah it's great, reminds me of The Day that Never Comes (for obvious reasons).

To be honest, it ends on a much more positive note that I anticipated. I was sure that she would shoot herself at the end.

I guess its more similar (At least from the stuff that isn't Friday the 13th) to American Psycho than Famous Monsters imo and I appreciate the former and it has some songs I like but I guess i really enjoy the more "pop" ish sound of Famous Monsters, its lyrics, guitar work and importantly Graves vocal work which was definitely at its best on Famous Monsters and all of that comes together to make a really cool album while Only albums may have glimmers of some of those aspects but I never really feel that it reaches any of those heights. I do really like 2 songs off the EP though.

As for a new Misfits album, IIRC he said he was unsure, didn't give a hard no and said that if it happens he would have to write all the music, Only, Doyle and Lombardo said they were down to write a new album and apparently Graves is down to come back too if Danzig won't though I'm sure that would piss a lot of people off and I wouldn't be surprised if Only still had some bad blood from their split.

And on Doyle's new album, yeah I kinda agree there, but I guess there's also a certain charm about having a heavier horror rock album, especially when that style is largely dead and its got some good riffs that show Doyle's writing has really improved.

But having a Misfits album with Doyle and Lombardo on it is sure to be some really cool shit musically even with or without Danzig, but I don't really want Only to continue fronting it. He's not like, offensively terrible as far as skill goes, I just think there are much better routes they can go.

Still holding out hope for Danzig/Doyle/Lombardo/Only outfit

I didn't think Famous Monsters was all that different from American Psycho tbh. Maybe a little more melodic/not as speedy, but that's about it. From the Only albums I'd recommend 'Ghost of Frankenstein', 'The Devil's Rain', 'Vampire Girl' and 'Zombie Girl'. Relatively melodic and Jerry does a good job on vox. Just stay far, far away from that 'Descending Angel' re-recording D:

Initially Glenn didn't say no, but he seemingly decided against it :( I would rather have a new Misfits album with Glenn, as his solo stuff has been awful for ~20 years by now. I would take a new album with Graves too, for that matter. And Lombardo is an amazing drummer. I've never liked Slayer much, but they've always had great drummers.

First listen done and Spit Out the Bone is the highlight for me. Will listen a bunch more times tomorrow for sure.

Production is very good thankfully. Some roughness that doesnt work for me but it's cool.

Should be getting my Deluxe set tomorrow. Nice gift when I get home from work.

Then a Bonamassa concert Saturday. Life is good.

How dare you

Deth Red Sabaoth was very good. There's some decent stuff between too, I like 666 Satan's Child but it's not for everyone

Misfits reunion album will never happen because Jerry will want to give input and Glenn will want to write all of it. Obviously people (including myself) said "a reunion will never happen" but it's easier to stand on stage together and play the hits than to actually go through the creative process and stress that comes with living up to the classic material.

I think a lot of people (including Jerry and Doyle) are like "yeah, well now they have to do a big tour and album" but I don't think Glenn wants to. At least nothing extensive

I'll need to give it a few more listens, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up feeling the same.
Black has some great songs but everything that isn't "nothing else matters" "sad but true" "enter Sandman" "holier than though" and "wherever I may roam" is pretty middle of the road. Here I like every song a decent amount.

I kinda wish they would do another S&M (RIP Michael Kamen) only with a better playlist this time.

I love the original show but the playlist could be better.

This album is...kind of incredible. Based on hardwired and moth I thought it was going to have some quite good tracks, but never in my wildest dreams did I expect the entire album to be quite this listenable.

Album is much better than I expected. A few songs are pretty slow and plodding and blend together, and many songs could be a lot shorter, but the thrash stuff is killer and the slower songs have some massive riffs.
Production is their best since Black Album but Lars' snare still sounds weird.
Overall I'm very surprised. Good stuff.

Moth into Flame didn't grab me when the video released a few weeks back but now I have the album on my iPod it's my most played song. Love the verses, really sounds like they'd enjoy playing this live.

Been loving the album but I still think it falls flat when you reach Disc 2. At least it picks up again at the end though. So far this is how I would rank the songs:

Halo On Fire
Spit Out the Bone
Moth Into Flame
Now That We're Dead
Dream No More
Atlas, Rise!
Confusion
Here Comes Revenge
Hardwired
ManUNkind
Am I Savage?
Murder One

I am still pissed at Glenn for how bad Black Aria II was :p I tried giving Blackacidevil (or whatever the Danzig V album was named), 6:66 Satan's Child, Circle of Snakes and Deth Red Sabaoth a listen and blah :( His first two albums + Black Aria is definitely the best I've heard from him post-Misfits.

Pretty much, yeah. Doing a few reunion shows wasn't too bad, but I agree that Glenn most likely doesn't want to do an album or a world tour. I guess he's happy just doing his own thing.

Jesus Christ the video for Here Comes Revenge is the creepiest shit ever. Serial killer, creeping, haunting victims, insanity...Holy shit!!!

Oh man you are in for a treat

IMO this is the most "balanced" of all their albums, it has something for every kind of Metallica fan. And since I love almost all their albums (I don't like St anger, but I understand and respect it) I think it's fucking lit

I like you sir. Wanna be my friend?

I think I listened to all the songs about 5 or 6 times by now and I can say there's not a single one I don't like. I don't know how in the fuck that's possible, but it's the truth. I'm also having a really hard time picking a favorite.

Halfway through my first listen to the entire album and it sounds fucking great so far!

The mixing and production is miles ahead of Death Magnetic.

And the solos are plentiful!!!!

I'm only getting my deluxe cd set next week due to local retailers. I'm stuck with youtube until then. Does it sound much better than the music videos version?

Also, happy 'tallica day everyone!!!

I normally buy all my metallic albums on CD format, but is the apple iTunes store worth the purchase this time around? Is it worth the extra 5 bucks?

Never really cared for either. I know people love them but I think they're just alright. Love Unforgiven III though

Brofist. I despise Unforgiven 1&2, always skip them, but Unforgiven III is great.

I only skip three songs, third being Memory Remains.

I didn't like the production of any song I heard beforehand...Metallica used to be heavy, now they sound like 80s southern hardrock mixed with 2000s "poprock" to me.

I love most of the Black album, btw. Some seriously awesome hooks, melodies and eternal classics on there. The production was HUGE and quite the opposite of Hardwired, so far. Yet people love this new album. I'm going to listen now and try to be more open minded.

To me modern Metallica are the best whenever they don't try to play tough daddy and go for the hooks instead.

Baroness' Chlorine & Wine feels Metallica influenced to me and I wish James and the crew would embrace whatever they truly are instead of what they should be in the eyes of everyone...Me demanding that contradicts my statement because HOW CAN I KNOW but whatever, haha :D It's just a feeling.

BTW: Do any of you remember when Metallica put a ticket code for a special concert in the early Death Magnetic CDs? That was awesome. 15 bucks for a CD + actual Metallica gig? One of the best bargains ever. They still rock live.

I like Memory Remains but yeah i've never cared for Unforgiven 1 or 2 but 3 is seriously great. Definitely one of the best things they've done.

The 3 covers where part of various tribute albums metallica took part in the last few years.

Nice to see then more easily available now. They are real good.

Ah cool! I assume they were also probably remixed too (might as well right?). Like them a lot. Super cool that the Deluxe version is on Spotify even though I will buy the CD.
