r0x!
Thanks!
I don't think it'd be against the TOS, or this entire thread would be.

they probably mistook the PSX Exploit for a way to play PSX games via HDLoader, when it's actually just a way to load up HDLoader off a memcard without the HDLoader Disk... i know a friend of mine thought that when he read about the PSX game exploit and i had to correct him...tenchir said:I browse through these kinds of things and I have yet seen any mention of the possibility of playing PSX games from the HDD, where did you heard it from?

so what you're saying is that the .max file you found only works if you own a copy of ff tactics, VII, or harvest moon, and that you can't edit the file if you wanted to use another game?I finally got a copy of Action Replay Max EVO for the PS2. I can safely say that copying the system file(it has the exploit) to my flash drive and transfering it to another memorycard pretty much work. I have three memory card that will each boot from a different game(Final Fantasy Tactic, Final Fantasy VII, and Harvestmoon BTN). The cool thing is that I the backed up system file contains HDLoader/HDadvance, FAPLink, ExecFTP, and the KeyLauncher that you used to launch each application(It's basically a menu to launch app off of MC).
Too bad that there isn't a ps2 save application yet that lets you open .max files(AR Max save format), so that all you need to do is put in a new title.db that's for your game for the exploit to work. This will makes it a lot easier for people with unmodded ps2 to use the exploit.

also hope it's not against the TOS, but where did you find the .max file?
Defensor said:Tenchir, where did you buy the AR Evo? I was thinking about just buying the MAX drive at stores but is this any different from EVO besides the software?

its a torx 6 size = 3/8" tip (if i remember correctly) it should be the same one that can open up a cell phone since the cellphone uses torx 6 screws on its board
You dont have to take the screws out...That metal sheild is just held in by plastic clips...What you need is a dremal...Look at these pics...

Why can't they have an HDLdump for dummies or something? A program that lets me install to the hdd without opening up my pc case.![]()

Use a phillips screwdriver.Wario64 said:Either I have a different kind of network adaptor or I'm stupid. Torx = screws that look like a star, right? I have a torx screwdriver and it doesn't fit. The screws inside my NA only has 3 sides, not a star

you could always melt the end of a bic pen down and mold it into the shape of the screw head
tenchir said:Who says I bought it?You can buy them from www.codejunkies.com. Not sure if it's available to EB or Gamestop yet. The Max Drive only lets you backup/load save files and update your AR codes, I think. The AR EVO lets you do more than that, it also plays divx(you have to use the AR software to burn the divx to cd), update code through online, get saves from online, and of course cheat codes.

did god strike my head?
I dont know but i've got a question. Can you say add this edited file into a already formated PS2 harddrive hooked up to your PC and then import it back into the MC so you can run it from there? I dont know if its possible. But i've stored saves on my HDD and i think i found the folder by snooping around.
Anyone got any ideas?
Also can you hot swap HDD's?
Yusaku said:So are you saying you need the EVO features to do the exploit?
Wario64 said:Anyone know if you can remove dummy files from a PS2 game? I really want to optimize my HD so I can have as much space as possible
tenchir said:It's one way to do the exploit, that's assuming you have the right game for the exploit to work.... like Final Fantasy Tactic. To change to a different PSX game, you need to be able to create a new Title.db file with the appropiate code from that game and replace the current one. If you have a modded PS2, then look at the previous pages for links on instruction to install the exploit.
Yusaku said:I know how to make title.db files. I'm just asking if you need a AR MAX EVO, or if just a plain AR MAX wlll work.
tenchir said:You need the EVO version or Max Drive because you need a way to get the files off the USB flash device.
PC > USB > PS2
So I assume you found a software that will extract files out of .max file and rebuild it after you done editing the Title.db?
Dummies are used for padding, so the actual data is pushed to the outside tracks on the disc - makes for faster reading. What also makes excellent padding material is FMVs and music data, so if you have enough of those you don't need dummiesMarc said:Wario, from what I've seen, very few PS2 games use dummy files of any kind.

I already performed the HDLoader MC exploit, do I still need to copy some program to the memory card or HDD to FTP games, and if so can someone point me to instructions on how to do it?
