eww....

This commentor was spot on

"Blame CEC and HDMI handshake data being sent by low speed connections and no enforcement of standards. HDMI was a spec designed around copy protection rather than stability"

I hate stupid naming.

2.1 should be AT LEAST 2.5, this one 3.0.

Speed and feature differences are massive, yet fucking x.1 difference to them.
What is it with these standards having stupid fucking naming choices? Obviously no one beats USB after 3 and its retroactive renaming, but they're all selling themselves short and only serving to confuse consumers. Absolutely no one benefits from the naming choices these standards make, but everyone suffers.

I skimmed HDMI cables on Wiki and it makes sense way back when every year there seemed to be a new HDMI 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 or whatever. But since 2, it's slowed down to much fewer releases so it's a big gap in years. A big boost to cables should be named 3.
