If i get Dish Network with thier HD package and reciever, and i have Time Warner basic cable for free in the house, if i connect the cable wire into the HD tunner could i get the local channels in HD?

no, it requires a specific signal. they charge more for to send the hd sigal.

if you have an hd tuner then you can goto radio shack or somewhere and get a hd antenna for about 30 or so dollars. you can get all the local channels that offer it in hd for free.

but you have to live a certain distance from the station towers.

i get fox nbc and wb all in hd great for the superbowl. I use the 30 dollar antenna.

HD antenna? Any TV antenna will pick up OTA HD, even the ancient one on top of your grandparents' house.
