Health is surprisingly simple and the reason most people don't have it is because they're fucking lazy. I hate to break it to you but that is the reality.
I will make it easy for you - My wife was a sleep apnoea specialist doctor for 17 years so let me help you out breh.
So, starting with the single most important thing you can do for your health to improve quickly that most people don't even think about.
1. Good sleep and sleep hygiene, and understanding what circadian rhythm is. This is not broscience, its hard scientific fact that he who sleeps the least, dies the soonest. If you ignore this first step, you can almost guarantee poor health regardless if you follow everything else perfecty. Making sure you get at least 8 hours of deep, uninterrupted sleep in a comfy bed every night will have the biggest impact on your health.Sleep disturbances lead to mitochondrial damage and dysfunction, potentially contributing to the onset and progression of various neurological diseases. Furthermore, the circadian rhythm and sleep-wake cycles are influenced by mitochondrial activity. My wife helped more than 10,000 people over her career with severe health issues related to sleep. It is not only about getting enough, it is about sleep quality.
- get a high quality bed and matress. with natural sheets (cotton, avoid polyester / skin irritating plastic biproducts that fuck up your sleep. yes this is a thing)
- get a blackout blind
- get your ass to sleep before midnight every night, ideally before 11pm max.
- track your sleep
- avoid screens and food at least 2-3 hours before bed
2. Fix your gut. A healthy microbiome in your gut is the key to longevity and immune health, providing you are not skipping step 1. High quality grass fed meat, bone broth, natural fats, fruits, root vegetables and plenty of (ideally unpasteurised) dairy like cheese and milk, greek yoghurt. Your health will soar. Cut out processed food entirely, and get sugars only from fruit and honey.
3. Exercise - walking, cycling, lifting heavy weights 2-3 times a week is enough to keep you in top shape.
That is it. There are no 'health hacks', there are no corners to cut, there are no excuses. You either do the above or you die sooner than you should.
