A quick, mini-item to keep you up to speed: A deal has been finalized with KONAMI for a HELLBOY video game based on the movie version of the characters and world. Expect new monsters, new villians (and the return of one of our favorite ones) and a new storyline. Mike Mignola and myself are now in discussions to come on board as consultants- Hope it happens.

Cool. At one time I was close to work on a Hellboy game, things didn't pan out though :(
Hopefully they won't screw it up. A Hellboy RPG would rule!

Hellboy is awesome and all,but he doesn't have the flare and zing of...

Now thats who really needs a game badly.

I'm struggling to think of a single good game Konami has made with a license.
I know there'll be like 100 replies to this with good suggestions, but I can't think of one for now for some reason. All the recent ones have been ass, at least.

This could be really cool, but my expectations are extremely low. At the very least, though, it'll probably be better than the first Hellboy game.

Well, back in the day -- X-Men, TMNT, The Simpsons, and a few other arcade games. In recent years -- no, I can't think of any, either.

Meh, Winning Eleven only uses a license when it's the J.League edition ;)
And yeah, TMNT and Simpsons kicked ass.
Now they're all about making quick cash from anime licenses.

There is really tons of crap that Konami has developed this gen ....

Andthis is without teh anime crap that is only released in Japan like Prince of Tennis , Getbackers , Flame of Recca and much more .

Huge company very small good releases.

When you include Ys, what exactly are you referring to?
AFAIK, they just bought the IP. It's not really a license.
They licensed the IP and remade the game. Granted they're just porting an existing game rather than making a new one based off some comic, film, television or sports property... but a license is still a license.

Yeah, there's tons more in Japan, this is only about a third of it. On a release by release basis, I'd say about 60-65% of Konami's releases are based on licensed properties actually. These days they're more like Bandai than Capcom or Namco.

oh no - their KING ARTHUR game was just horrible!!!! please, konami, dont spend your money and workers for that shit. nobody cares about bad films - nobody cares about bad games from bad films either!

With Konami's latest trends with licences, I’m sure they will forget to put some huge key point into this game, then, try and redeem themselves in the next game by adding the feature, only to keep the gameplay that wasn't even enjoyable in the first place. Then, after all is lost, they throw out a brawler in the hopes of reviving the franchise, yet still, no one bites.
