Help! Can anyone confirm: In The Hunt Saturn Import

Will it play on my US Saturn using the 4-in-1 Meg cart? I've read that it won't work at all, then I read an online review where he claimed he could only get it to boot up 50% of the time . Thinking of ordering it from Play-Asia.com and would rather have it import since it's in English and I like the import cover art (not to mention the US version comes in that big ass jewel case). If it works only some times, that would be fine w/ me, I just need to know that it does work.

I'm pretty sure it'll work okay with a 4-in-1 - and if it doesn't, you can try an ST-Key - but the main problem is that In the Hunt just doesn't like to boot up at all. The US Saturn version would only boot up properly for me about half the time, and when I had the import briefly, it behaved about the same.

THAT explains a lot about why I couldn't play the game. I thought it was just the Saturn.

Okay, so it's the game itself. Hmmmm....I should be ok then since I will only play it every now and then anyway. :)
More slowdown, actually. The Playstation version is better all-around.

A 2D game better on the PSX? Is this actually possible/true? Is the slowdown less because the PSX version has missing animation?

And thx for the quick replies, btw. I am going through a "Collect All Import Shooters On The Saturn" phase, AKA "Recipe For A Bitter Divorce".

I've never noticed any animation cuts. And yeah, there are several 2D shooters that are better on PSX. Donpachi, Dodonpachi, and Strikers 1945 II are the big ones. DP and DDP are both much cleaner ports and have less slowdown and cleaner sprites (the Saturn versions have scaled-down explosion/laser graphics that are scaled up onscreen) and S1945II has much less slowdown and better color blending.

There's even a few 2D fighting games that are overall better on the PSX compared to the Saturn versions. :)

I've got both copies for each system, and the Playstation version easily runs twice as fast.... don't ask me why.

the animation seems spot on on both ... nice to, considering it has some of the best sprite animation ever.

I'm pretty sure none of them are from Capcom.

Which ones? The only 2D fighting game I had on PSX was one of the KOFs. Never played the Saturn version.

The ports of Super SF2 and Super SF2 Turbo in Street Fighter Collection 1 are better on PS1 than on Saturn.

The Saturn KOFs were a lot better than the PSX versions. There's only a few, but Real Bout Fatal Fury (only saw the second win poses cut for animation and little else; had much better sound quality than the Saturn version), Real Bout Special (became RBS: Dominated Mind, had a lot added), and Samurai Shodown 4 (Cut frames, but played much smoother than the slowdown-plagued Saturn version) were better on the PSX than on the Saturn. Capcom learned to do better PSX ports towards the end of the system's lifespan, but SNK did a much better job in comparison.

I say this all the time, but I'm so glad the 32-bit era is over; now if I want to play all the 2D fighters and shooters, I can play the arcade versions via MAME and Final Burn on my modded Xbox. No more wondering if one version is better than the other. No more cut frames. No more load times. Just perfection.
