One qualms I have is, if my roomates want to keep a wired connection will they be able to? Is there ethernet ports at the back to support wired connections? If so I might just go with this as I can use the PSP and PC with the router. The price isn't that bad I guess, with the MIR it's $120 :)().

Is there anywhere else that would have this package for cheaper? Canadian websites? American websites that ship to Canada? Any help would be appreciated :)

Yeah from what I just learned (in this thread -- lots of good info) you can have a wireless connection AND use the Ethernet ports in wireless routers (mine has 4) for a direct link to your PC or another one.

Awesome, never knew that as I'm a networking noob. Thanks for the link to that thread, totally missed it. I might just go with this then, tat way I can have my PC hooked up wirelessly with the USB adapter, my roomates can hook up with the ethernet cable and I can still play PSP online. Only point of contention is the price, it's kinda steep...if anyone can help in that regard I would be forever grateful.

I bought, on Thursday, a Linksys Wireless-G router and a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adaptor.

I then had my DSL modem connected to a regular wired Linksys router which worked fine for the past year. I swapped out the wired router with the wireless-g routehr (backwards compatible with wireless-b, btw.) Yep, my desktop is still hardwired to the wireless router via it's 4 ethernet inputs.

However, my laptop is now connected to the new hotspot I created for my apartment, wirelessly. Hell, I even got (with help) file and printer sharing running between the laptop and desktop. (Printer's connected to the desktop, and I can print wirelessly!)

Great stuff. And very easy to do. My first time hooking up a wireless router (and network adaptor) and my first time ever establishing this kind of shared network between 2 computers, and I got it all up and running in more less 2 hours.

Didn't bother with a wireless adaptor for my desktop since I won't be moving it around the house. That's what the laptop's for.

Edit - Nintendo's WiFi online DS announcement plus next week's arrival of the PSP pushed me to finally going WiFi.

The price for that one is really good. Is it a good router? You know what, fuck connecting my PC wirelessly, I can do that in the future when the wireless apaters come down in price. As of right now I can connect all 3 comps in the ouse through ethernet connections and get online with the PSP right? the above is all I would need right?

Also, what is the main difference between the above and this one: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodd...0926INGFS10030147&catid=21119&newdeptid=21099

Is it worth the extra $20?

I've been warned away from D-Link. That model, however, will allow you to hardwire up to 4 devices via ethernet cables.

My Linksys one cost me $60.

I didn't know I needed an adaptor and just got the router. I thought it must be somehow supported in my motherboard or something. Then after getting the router I flipped through the motherboard manual and didn't find anything and was like "hmm, so I plug in my cable modem in the router, which turns the area into a hotspot, but how is my pc supposed to connect? o_O" :lol *moron*

Considering my PC is just a few feet away I'll go with an Ethernet cable. Another $50 for an adaptor doesn't seem worth it to me and I'll keep wireless for PSP/DS and hopefully REVOLUTION. :D

Linksys gave me problems in the past (to the point where I almost went insane trying to get it to work, I'm pretty sure it stopped working from when I brought it uni back home), my d-link has never. lots of people use d-link as well, and no one has problems with it as well. I'm a d-link fanboy :p

Wireless is almost completely unnecessary if you've only got 1 device you don't plan on moving, or even multiple devices in the same room you don't plan on moving. For instance, I've got my PS2, GCN, and desktop in the same room. I can have all 3 connected to my (wired or wireless) router simultaneously. But now I can also use my laptop anywhere in the apartment, totally unfettered, and I've got my own secure WiFi hotspot for the DS, PSP, and eventually the Revo.

Yeah, there's no point if the PC is so close to the wireless router. I have my PC connected through a 100ft ethernet cable since my PC is two floors down from the router. Not really a big deal, it would be if I had a laptop, but those come with wireless built-in so its a non-issue. I just want something for my PSP, and this should do just fine. $50 is a decent price, I wish it were cheaper, but I'd hate to wait a month or two for that...I might as well go for it.

Only thing I'm worried about is the router will be on the second floor while my bedroom is in the basement...will i get a good signal strength for the PSP there? Or will i have to game from my living room (main floor) for respectable performance. I guess there's no way to know till I get the thing :/

We have a dead old Netgear B router... though in terms of routers I suggest you get the Linksys WRT54GS(that's what we're picking up), and it's on the 2nd floor of our townhome in our office... I never have any trouble getting a connection with either of our laptops when I'm in our basement family room.
