So my old contract was up and my family decided to renew with Cingular.

That means I can pick out a new phone. I went by the store today and checked some stuff out and I narrowed it down to three choices:

Sony Ericson 710

Motorola V3

Nokia 6620

I liked how the Sony Ericson 710 has what seems to be a good camera phone (1.3 Megapixels IIRC), and supports Bluetooth, AIM, and mp3. Does this use Sony Memory Stick Duo or Duo Pro? The lady at the store was clueless.

The Motorola V3 was sleek and slim, which was really nice, and I enjoyed the fact that it also has a camera phone and supports Bluetooth and AIM as well as POP3 email. How much storage does it have though? I wonder.

The Nokia 6620 seems like a pretty cool cell-phone/organizer/email.

Does anyone own or have used these? Any insight on these models would be appreciated.

Do you mean the S710

Some people like the swivel action, but quite frankly the S710 is really thick and is basically amputated by only supporting Duo and not Pro Duo. The upcoming W800 will support Pro Duo though, if you want a candystick phone.

I like the V3. If I go to a store elsewhere I'm quick to hear complaints about V3 longevity but it seems sturdy enough to me, has a workable camera, and is damn thin enough to forget about other features. (like storage...damn, if only it had an MP3 player and a miniSD slot. As it stands all you have is internal memory, which is what, six megs?)

Not much experience with Nokia other than to say they don't seem to know good form factors, but I hear some of their models are loved for emulation reasons.

I went Sprint for non-phone related reasons (ended up with the quite useful Sanyo 5600) but if I went Cingular it would basically be the V3 or nothing. Hopefully some more interesting phones hit this holiday season.

assuming that 6620 is a non-3G 6630 for the Americas market, thats a good phone. good for emulation, email etc. Also plays mp3s and AACs in stereo with good sound quality (need a headset or an AD-15 to connect your own headphones)

I'm using a black V3 just like those, and I think it's great. I don't really care about the extra features like music or photos, I use the phone to text and talk and I think it's really good for communication purposes. Obviously, it's small, it feels well built, the battery-life is good and it's got good reception, and so no complaints. There isn't a lot of storage compared with some other phones, the upcoming candybar V8 will have a miniSD slot so you might want to wait for that if that's important to you. Personally, I prefer clamshells and as I said i don't really care about all the bells and whistles for phones. The V3 performs its main function real well, and I don't know if there's parallel in that regard.

go with a V3 it makes you look spacey and cool!

I love that phone so much that i am going to go out and get one for me aswell

Get a V3 if you want to look cool but the storage on it sucks and the features are below par. So if you actually want a usable mobile phone go for something else.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
I've been wanting to replace my Nokia 3650(T-Mobile USA) for awhile now, but it seems like none of the other phones they sell can match it's feature set.... I'd like the new phone to have:

Bluetooth for headphone AND syncing.
upgradeable memory
symbian OS or Java so that I download additional apps
voice memo
voice dialing
camera

This seems like such a simple featureset, but I can't find any other device that matches it I though the Motorola A630 might do it, but I don't think it has upgradeable memory, and I though I read that it didn't come with that much mem to being with.... <frustration>

EDIT:

Just read some reviews... looks like the V330 and the A630 are my options, both have the features I want EXCEPT for the damn upgradeable memory... I've been spoiled by the 3650... <sob>

It is a very 'usable' phone. Depends on whether your use of the phone is to communicate or to use as a multimedia device.

They don't do many phones, do they (looking at their website)

Maybe consider switching operators?

Hmm Maybe so... though it doesn't have memory expansion the V3 seems like it might be a good fit....
