Okay, I just finished off Perfect Dark Zero, and I should be able to finish off Shadow of the Colossus today also. So, help me choose my next game!

Here's what I'm currently looking at:

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GCN)
Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)
Dead or Alive 4 (X360) --> it'll be single-player only, as I don't have Live or a 2nd controller
Half-Life 2 (XBOX) --> I have a crappy PC

What do you guys think?

Since you don't have live, I'd go with either FEoR or DQ8. Better yet, get both.

Fire Emblem and DQ8 are still unplayed on my backlog, and I'm not crazy about fighting games, so, um... Half-Life 2.

But seriously, it is a tremendous game. I think I gave it #6 in my year end poll. Just don't try it on the 360, the stuttering will give you seizures!

Dragon Quest is the best of those I played (haven't tried DOA4).

For SRPG's, Fire Emblem is your game. Great music, great art, deep story, great strategy. (I own it.)

For old school (and I mean old school) turn-based JRPG fun with a fantastic presentation, DQ8 is your game. (I own it)

My answer would be Live + Dead or Alive 4. You're not getting your money's worth out of PD:0 if you don't have Live, trust me.

Do you really think the logical conclusion we can gain from the fact that he doesn't have 2 controllers or LIVE is that he can 'just get it'? If he doesn't have it yet, that means he...

a.) Doesn't want to have it yet
b.) Doesn't have the money for it + game yet
c.) Doesn't have broadband

So why would you reccomend to him DOA4 + LIVE? Read the directions! Then you won't fail at forum life.

Anyway, back on topic, Fire Emblem is by far the best game of the group. And I like Dragon Quest VIII too, but, FIRE EMBLEM!

DQ8 - if you like jRPGs.

FE - if you like jSRPGs.

DOA:4 - if you have friends who like fighting games.

HL2 - if you like SP FPSes.

My choice would be HL:2, DQ8, DOA4 and FE.

All I gotta say is unless you're playing DOA4 over Live I'd wait on it as fighters aren't very fun single player experiences.

I don't want to get Live right now because:

a.) I don't have enough money for Live and a game;
b.) I like Perfect Dark, but I won't be online enough to justify the $80 Live purchase.

So, I'd rather get a game that I can play at my own pace.

By all accounts, it's currently looking like Fire Emblem will be that game. The reason I would also entertain DQ8 is because of the FF12 demo included. I tried DOA4 at the local EB demo station, and it looks really good, but I don't own ah HDTV.
